In Consumer Reports annual vehicle issue (April 2025), they rate the Corvette as a “Recommended Buy” with an overall score of 87. They also claim that 92% of owners would buy the vehicle again. As expected, it gets high marks for handling, acceleration, and braking, with average marks for predicted reliability, usability (?), and noise. This is the top rated vehicle in the 2 seat sports car category, topping the Toyota Supra, Porsche Boxster, BMW Z4, and the Nissan Z.
I stopped believing Consumer Reports after, having decided that the Suzuki Samurai was unsafe, testing to find out that it didn't act as they predicted, then changing the test so that if failed.
I have found Consumer Reports provides information that can be helpful; I particularly like the repair information. But I also look at a number of other sources to get a better idea of what to look for when car shopping. Always keeping in mind the biases of the specific publication or website.
Then I go shopping to drive the top three or four candidates to narrow it down to one. Finally, I shop for the specific vehicle for price. So far it has worked well for us.
The vast, vast majority of C8 owners are not members of this forum and therefore are not constantly reading about the isolated incidences of problems. Since they are not doing that they are also not under the impression that their car is a ticking time bomb and, since their experience has been a good one, are happy with their car.
I don't really listen to anything they say because they are so totally objective, sometimes they miss the whole point of the review.
They are good for toasters when you just need to facts. But a car has so many other considerations like styling, cool factor, American made, go power, wow index, and too many things that you just cannot put a number on.

With all these publications, it's good to gain a general idea and then trace a pattern of consistency when you compare with all the different publications all together. And then you can form your own opinion after experiencing the vehicle first hand or trying it out from a friend or local dealer or rental agency. Sometimes you learn the most when you actually live with the car for a longer period of time of course. I don't think there's any sports car that compares with the value and performance and looks of the current Corvette. GM did a wonderful job and that's why I keep coming back to this vehicle.
It's an every persons opinion. Nothing more. I value the opinion of people here more and even then with a grain of salt. We are all different in our experiences and values.
I was stoked to find out that the 8 speed dual clutch transmissions was not a problem! I have chosen to self insure with the transmision, and this supports my decision!.
