Default C8 Corvette engine oil filter removal

Will oil filter wrench end cap fit the PF64 on Stingray with filter so close to cooler?

Yes, my original filter was on so tight that the endcap wrench stripped, and I had to use a large set of pliers for the 1st filter change. but it does fit without issues.

I posted a thread in here less than a week ago about removing the oil filter with a filter socket and the socket was slipping. I had to go find another tool to remove it (3 prong thingy that tightens as you turn the socket wrench).

Cap socket works fine for me. With previous cars I've found a piece of old bicycle inner tube does a good job of making it grip better.

A strap wrench will also work if the piece the strap attaches to is relatively thin.

Works fine if you use the correct endcap filter wrench.

+1 Surprisingly when I was looking for one autozone didn't even have the correct size. I ended up getting one off amazon.

Are there bull's in China closet at engine assembly installing oil filters to the engine.
Anyone getting stuck in the middle of engine oil/filter change because can't remove filter at first oil change?

I've come close to getting stuck, but a basic strap wrench has never failed me:

LOOSEN filter first then drain & continue. I found putting a neoprene glove inside filter removal end cap keeps it from slipping.👍

Some people have had problems getting the filter off using a wrench. Even with the best socket type wrench the problem isn't slipping. If the filter is tight enough the corners of the wrenching pattern on the filter will collapse is the filter is tight enough.

First basic tip is to insure you turning the filter to the left. Yes, we've had a post here where the poster seeking advice was actually tightening the filter as opposed to loosening it.
