I have a 2025 Eray and upon delivery the HUD displayed the local speed limit. Within several weeks the speed limits disappeared. They reappeared after a few weeks.
I have never been subscribed to Onstar. I have never downloaded apps to the car, or connected with Android Auto.
I may have checked and approved all app authorizations and T&C while the speeds limits were missing.

I don't know if this is related or if I can describe the sequence of events from memory, .... but...

I started changing the Instrument cluster dispays (Weather, Tour, etc) and the HUD modes, tying the HUD modes to the displays, WITHOUT exiting after each change, from display mode to display mode. I was trying to get the HUD into Sport mode and tying it to all display modes. When I got done, when I drove and changed to Tour (driving mode) the HUD was gone. I hit the HUD button and it came back. When I changed to MY mode, it was there but changing again to TOUR mode it disappeared. This situation held even on the next day. ..

So, I next changed the display and set the HUD mode, .. exited the menu and went back in to the next display mode, set the HUD, and exited, doing this procedure for each display mode I was setting. Then all was well again.

It seems that by NOT exiting between the setting confused the system somehow... ... So

I ask if your speed limit disappearance happened after changing display modes along with setting HUD modes? ... Or did they just suddenly disappear without any action on your part? and/or was it just the speed limit that was dropped or the whole HUD?

2025's unlike my 2024 are supposed to get FREE OnStar for 8 years:

Google Answer to My Question: "Yes, 2025 model year Corvettes, along with all other 2025 and newer GM vehicles, come with a complimentary OnStar Basics package for eight years. This package includes features like Automatic Crash Response, remote commands, and access to OnStar's built-in navigation system.":

That is what Google states and some have quoted. Also saw some saying less time. BUT OnStar Nav is where the speed limit is coming from. I had for the free month I got and when it went away so did road speed.

Recently checked and OnStar told me that was included in the 2025 price NOPE you don't get it! I use a workaround with a now 17 month old Google Map I copied to the car.

The speed just disappeared - nothing else changed, nor do I recall changing anything.

This is a screenshot from my Chevrolet.com account page for my 2025 C8:

It is quite confusing - under the Details link on OnStar Basic, it clearly states "Find the best routes, get traffic updates, discover nearby places, and more, all from your center display." However there is no data/WiFi included.

Unless they can get this app update business sorted, I'm probably just going to kill the OnStar One sub before it starts charging my card, delete the MyChevrolet app and take the risk of not having the speed limit info in the HUD. I don't particularly like the turn by turn stuff overriding my HUD/dash data and will use Apple Maps or Waze (via CarPlay) for nav like in my other vehicles (Lexus RX and Ford F350). I get turn notification on my Apple Watch anyway. Of course the Ford and Lexus DO blast turn by turn notifications into those vehicle's displays.

GM's software engineers really appear to be the C team

I must have Speed limit showing. Did for my C6, two C7's and 2020 C8! Places in town where 45 goes to 30 mph limit and cops love giving tickets.

So when my 2014, one month free OnStar Trial ended so did road speed on Dash AND if set in HUD.

Frustrated, started a number of threads then @StairStep walked be thru workaround. Took like 2 hrs but been working fine for ~15 months. He added to my post I made as a Pic so I could easily post:

BTW, I tried the Google Maps workaround that I found but immediately ran into a snag - the the Play Store didn't actually return Google Maps as a result from the google maps search! I did go into Google Maps directly and found how to download a local map. However after doing that, the speed limit signs still didn't show up until OnStar sent a sync signal to my car.

I may have found part of the problem with OnStar though. I hooked up my Xtool ODB scanner and saw several DTC's that were all telematic CAN bus failures. Some cleared and others immediately reappeared after clearing them. We are leaving on a trip soon (without the vette) and when I return I will visit my local dealer and see what they think. It may be there is a flaky telematics unit that is preventing the telemetry from syncing with the OnStar/GM servers, hence the app doesn't update or throw an error.

I believe you have to delete the current OEM Google Maps app to allow you to install the one in the PlayStore. But I wouldn't do that if you have a 2025, at least not until your basic OnStar runs out.

This is what I've done, added my Android Phone as a Trusted Device. It has an unlimited data plan.
Whether the nav info is coming to the Infotainment System Google Maps app/display from the Onstar (forced) 3 year Premium data plan I have, or it's using Android Auto to use the phone's data plan, it works, unless there are no cell towers nearby. Thought I read somewhere that Google Maps stores recent area coverage maps, when no internet is available.
I would suggest trying a reboot of the Infotainment System by press and hold the "phone call end" button on the steering wheel, for 15 seconds or until the screen goes black, as possibly the simplest fix.
Good luck.

My iPhone is a trusted device and I tried the reset - didn't change anything. My speed limit signs are back for the time being after OnStar said they sent some sort of signal to my car a couple days ago. I have no idea how long this will last.

Does your iPhone have a data plan? I think the common thread, in this thread, is reliable internet access, either via OnStar or a cellular data plan.
Wifi at home in the driveway is also a possible way/option to download fixed area maps from the map app of your choice.
I installed/added Waze from the Google Play store, on spec, some time ago. I have no idea if it helps, but I get the speed limit signs in the DIC as well as the traffic alerts and warnings on whatever version of Google Maps is installed in the Infotainment System.

I guess just wait and see how it goes. I had some oddball stuff happen when i first started using google maps nav but it's been much more stable lately. Once in a while I reboot the IT System. Any Android OS needs refreshed on TVs phones laptops and Corvettes occasionally.
