I have had one on order since Feb. It came in in March but with a crack. Now waiting on another. A fellow C8 had his on order since Dec 24. Not sure if he got it yet.
Called my local dealer, he said there were 181 in the system, 2 weeks delivery. Not on backorder. I was thinking about installing Xpel windshield protection, its $500. But with them available now, I think I'll save the coin.
Based on my experience with BMW windshield replacements with Heads Up Display ("HUD"), SafeLite replacement glass produced fuzzy HUD images. Only when BMW sourced windshield glass (with BMW logo) was used, did it result in a clear HUD image. I hade a C7 HUD windshield replaced with GM logo-ed glass and it worked fine..... so, I suggest when a HUD widshield is involved, insist on manufactured logo-ed glass, not "just as good as" prommised installations. Just my experience and opinion.

$500 is about right but shop around. Windshield protection film is sort of new and more suppliers are providing product. I was tempted to try a DYI kit but just paid the man about $400. Its not a one and done install. Depending on the exposure, usage you'll need to replace it a few years down the road. BUT never had a chip but most important to me is not seeing the pit marks. Just pushes me over the top driving into the sun and seeing a moonscape!!!!

Amen to this. I had a windshield PPF installed early on and two years later I’m glad I did. There is significant scarring on the film from debris impacts - which tend to self heal over time, but underneath the windshield is perfect. Of greater significance is not looking through a windshield scarred and sandblasted which scatters light across the windshield’s surface making it difficult to see at times. That is very annoying.
Late last year I needed a new windshield for my 24 coupe after an object fell off a tree. Safelight ordered it from GM but it came cracked. 2 weeks later they did a nice job installing it. But it was tough living with that smashed windshield for a month.
I am definitely looking to add external PPF to my new windshield. It does seem funny that a lot Are being shipped and arriving cracked. A bit indicative of a flawed design.

Not sure what the wait times are today. Last May, I had mine ordered from Safelite. At the time, Safelite did not have their own version yet, they had to order OEM. The wait time was about 7 weeks. I ended up not using Safelite, but another local installer who also used OEM GM. Best bet is to call around your area. I originally booked a replacement on Safelites website at a good price. The Safelite branch I booked it at called my and raised that estimate by $300. Safelite wanted me to bring the car in. I found a local shop who did installs on exotics, and they drove out to my house to replace it.

A bit indicative of poor packaging/shipping/ & handling procedures
