Recently installed the Soler Controller and noticed when switching from OEM to Sport 5 while moving the exhaust changes to a slightly deeper growl and more pops and crackles on deceleration. Is it my imagination or have others noticed.
Controller is pretty amazing BTW.

I agree with you based on the fact that last week something in the cubby must have been pressing on the controller and changed the setting from OEM to something much higher [sorry I don't recall which]. When I started the car that morning the growl was much louder and pronounced.
It's all placebo, all it's doing it giving more throttle than your physically giving. So when you give 20% it turns it into 40% or whatever setting you've selected. It doesn't actually change the exhaust sound, you just hear the sound of higher throttle than what you expect from what your foot is doing.

So then the way you explain it, technically it is changing the exhaust note because of the higher throttle input. I would call that a real effect not a placebo effect.

At idle it would be the same. The sound would be the same just earlier in the throttle being pressed process, the rest of the time. Now as it gets there more quickly on throtttle I am guessing it could sound different.

The only reason the Soler might appear to change the exhaust note is that when you switch settings you're essentially opening the throttle more. Other than that, it's your imagination.

It's no different than pressing down further on the gas pedal would do. I suppose that "changes the exhaust note," too.

So what would cause the enhanced crackling and popping upon deceleration? I usually only hear that when I’m in track mode.
