I had to pay the state sales tax when I bought my used car from a local dealer. Previously when buying a used car from an individual, there was no sate sales tax, but I bet the car dealers / state lobbied to changed the law. You can never beat the government, there is no use in complaining.
If the salesman can't give you an excellent explanation of what that fee is, ask him to remove it or the deal is done. There are TONS of C8's out there to be had
Can anyone tell me what a "License fee for transportation" is? I see $5469.28 on the car I am trying to buy.
Thanks,

I do not know what it is.
I searched the term "License fee for transportation" and found some stuff, but what I found would suggest that such a fee, if real, would be far, far smaller.
I found this statement, which I think applies to Washington State (I did not find similar for OPs state):
"State law allows city or county governments to create transportation benefit districts and impose an additional vehicle registration fee to fund local transportation projects."
OK, so I finally got in touch with my salesman and he said that number is for MO sales tax, title fee, and registration fee.
Thanks for the feedback.

Good! Most (all I think) sales agreements I have ever seen have separate lines for those items. So the buyer can verify their accuracy. I think I would ask for a breakdown. Then verify them.
