I would like to get information from C8 Z51 owners if anyone has experienced suspension issues like Ball Joint Separating or other issues with control arms etc.
I bought C8 Z51 year 2022 in April 2024 with around 6500 miles only. I did 3 track events. During the 4th event the Right Front Wheel just breaks off on the track coming out of a turn. The car obviously crashes in the guard rail. The car is at the GM Dealership since Oct 20th 2024. They still don't have Brakes working. Service manager said that the Ball Joint broke (separated) causing the suspension to fail and wheel to break off and during this process took the Brake System down.
I have tried GM to assess this if this is a faulty part or manufacturing issue or may be something else went wrong during assembly. I wanted them to investigate for any public safety recall so other 2022 C8s don't get into the same issue leading to a crash. I have not had any luck in getting GM to review this or have any luck in getting the car done after 8.5 months. Their Part Allegation department states they won't do anything because insurance claim was filed. Their CAC department cannot get any Field Service Engineer to go to dealership to do assessment and help.
I am hesitant in driving the car after this long when they could not fix it in this period of time. This is 'Brakes' we are talking about and unless I get some reassurance from GM Engineers I am hesitant to drive it again. I also want them to look over other suspension parts to make sure it does not happen to Left Front or the rear suspension.
Any suggestions? Any one who has been in this situation?

that is super scary! The forces on the car on the track are X times more than street driving. And the consequences of an incident are so much more severe. Folks roatly posting no issues driving my garage queen is no comparison. Glad you were not injured. Hope this was a fluke but certainly would be concerning to me.
good luck with the claim

My brakes failed 3 days ago on my 24 c8 and the pedal was so hard I wish the abs turned on but just no bite, I can't describe the fear, I ended up crashing into the barrier almost cost me my life, haven't filed insurance debating on taking it to dealer for investigation and getting a lawyer. I'm also hearing about a new recall on all GM vehicles from July 1st

This sounds a beyond fishy to me. Brakes have fail safe split circuits so even if one line breaks, the other circuit is still in place. The electric boost is just that, it still has fluid in a line that pushes pistons in the calipers. I've never heard of someone that almost lost their life (surprised you're out of ICU and on a forum in three days) and is debating on whether or not to contact insurance????? Please post this recall that affects ALL GM VEHICLES. Sorry, but nothing in this post makes sense, adds up, or is accurate.
With all the C8's run at Ron Fellows, I have never heard of any suspension component involved issue.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ this.
Those cars at Ron Fellows get the **** beat out of them all day long, every single day, and there have been zero reports of ANY suspension failure. This is not something that has happened to any other car or there would be all kinds of pics, posts, videos, etc.
GM Customer service told me they will not investigate if the insurance claim is involved. My bumper to bumper warranty had expired only 15 days before the crash. Consider contacting the Customer Service first. I will recommend using your warranty to start the process before you take it to the dealership.
