Remote eating batteries
If too close to the car, the fob will be sensed .
I use a faraday bag from Amazon to store my FOB.
Per Goggle AI:
While the exact percentage of counterfeit products on Amazon is difficult to pinpoint, estimates range from 10% to 60%. This wide range reflects the varying susceptibility of different product categories to counterfeiting, with high-value and luxury items often being targeted. Amazon has acknowledged the issue and taken steps to combat counterfeiting, including establishing a Counterfeit Crimes Unit and implementing measures like Transparency, but the problem persists.
My industrial experience with our well known, leading name Heliarc for TIG Torches and wear parts, Collets, Collet Bodies etc was by far the one copied. In that case copiers did not copy the Heliarc Name BUT did our product, Torch numbers AND part numbers. Good example is this I just found on Amazon:
10Pcs Collet Body 10N32 (3/32") & Collet 10N24 (3/32") Consumables KIT for TIG Welding Torch 17, 18 and 26
The 10N32 and 10N24 are our 1950's part numbers! Funny as back in the 1950's our TIG Torch names were all simple numbers, i.e. 17, 18, 9 , 20 etc. The emphasis was on the Registered Trademark NOT adding other name. Our part numbering system was well before computers so 5 digits with a letter in the middle was common. All copiers used our Torch numbers and part numbers. That was also sustained by the Chinese who now supply most. But my history from when I was working full time (25 years ago) was where we used Beryllium and Chrome copper, since the parts get very hot, the copiers used cheaper alloys. BUT their price was much less and for some users, "good enough!"
Recall just before retiring in 2000 Newport News Ship who bought our Heliarc Brand Parts complained the Tungsten Electrodes were falling out of "our" collets. They are so small and thin no names on the very thin parts, only the plastic bags they were packed in They set in some collets that were causing the issues. They were not the Beryllium copper alloy we used for that part. A Distributor had supplied copy parts, probably at our our higher price!
Hard to tell if what you are buying is a cheap copy, in the case of batteries with a market leading name. I have switched buying FOB and similar critical batteries, SD Cards and Flash Drives to Best Buy, Walmart, Target etc!

I buy brand name batteries from Amazon or eBay with expiration dates a few years out - but I check voltage before installing. I buy 10 or more at a time with 3 cars and other devices that take 2032. As cheap as these batteries are I don't worry about it, but just change in ALL key fobs when I question operation.
Avoid brands with the crosshatch surface as they have less electrical contact area. I see one brand now publishing the voltage decay profile - will probably try them next time...

They are selling cheap poor quality batteries labeled as a brand name product. Been burned buying brand name batteries for my C7 FOB. Spent ~6 months chasing the reason for my SanDisk flash drive not loading my songs about every 1/3 start in my 2020 C8. After my C8 Trained tech reloaded the Infotainment Software with not help he read in the GM Service website a note made by a GM Tech re the issue. It said IF using a SanDisk flash drive that could be the issue. I asked the Tech why and he said we often put in notes of what we found without guessing why!
I bought another Flash Drive instead of the SanDisk I bought on Amazon. My 6 month old issue trying many of the forum suggestions with little help was gone. Bootleggers copy the best selling brands, sure they are smart.
It's NOT just batteries, flash drives and SD Cards:
Quoting: Counterfeit AC Delco oil filters can be difficult to spot, but examining the packaging and the filter itself can help identify fakes. Look for inconsistencies in the packaging (flimsy material, incorrect logos or names) and examine the filter for poor quality construction or unusual materials. Counterfeiters often mimic legitimate packaging, so it's crucial to purchase from reputable sources and be wary of prices that are too low.
