Default Questions

While I'm waiting for my 26 HTC, I've been reading owners manual and have some questions.
1. Is is really necessary to turn off engine "start stop" every time you start car?
2. Do performance settings like exhaust, steering, ride stay with performance modes like Tour, and sport or do they only stay set with "my mode" and "Z" mode? I would like to keep exhaust mode in track on all modes, and not need to set every time I start the car.
3. How big an SD card can PDR use.
4. Will PDR overwrite older sessions once card is full, or is it necessary to delete old files or format card once full? I intend to have it active every time I start the car as a "dash cam". Does it have an option to record both front AND rear cameras?
5. Do headlights respond to prevent blinding on coming traffic when front lift is active?

1. Do you mean auto start/stop? That is only on E-Ray and ZR1X (i.e., the models with hybrid batteries).
2. Track, Touring and Sport are preconfigured by GM. Set My Mode to how you want it and leave it there. The car will start in Touring mode or My Mode only. If you shut the car off in Sport or Track, it'll start up in Touring.
3. I don't know if they've documented a max but a 1TB should be sufficient. Make sure you enable the auto overwrite so you don't have to format the whole card once it's full.
4. See #3 about auto overwrite. No, there is no way to record the backup camera. If you want front and rear, you would have to install a true dash cam.
5. Front lift auto lowers at a certain speed so no, you won't be blinding people driving down the road with front end lift up.

Regarding the front lift, I will add the the vehicle has automatic headlamp leveling. So that will prevent "blinding" of other drivers even while the lift is activated.

Would the car consider front lift enabled as a "change in vehicle load"?

How would it tell the difference? Its described in some detail in the Service Manual. It uses signals from left and right suspension position sensors in the front. It does not care if the height has changed due to load, a road bump, or the front lift. From the description, it would appear that the Front Lift System is part of the process.

"Automatic Headlamp Leveling
The automatic headlamp leveling system consist of the following components:
K9Body Control Module
E13LHeadlamp Assembly Left
E13RHeadlamp Assembly Right
K19Electronic Suspension Control Module
B152LSuspension Position Sensor Left Front
B152RSuspension Position Sensor Right Front
Automatic Headlamp Leveling
The front suspension position sensors provides the K19Electronic Suspension Control Module with front suspension position information.
The suspension position sensors are connected to each control arm of the front suspension. As the vehicle travels, the suspension compresses and
rebounds moving the suspension position sensors. This causes the signal output of the sensor to change. The Front Suspension Leveling/Lifting
Hydraulic Power Pack Module sends a serial data message to the K9Body Control module (BCM) with the suspension position information.

The BCM responds to the suspension data by sending a serial data message to each headlamp assembly to adjust the headlamps accordingly. The
headlamp assemblies respond by adjusting the leveling motor within the headlamp assembly to the appropriate position."

Here is a schematic. The leveling motors are actually inside of the headlamp assemblies.

My only thought was that any mechanism that would tell the car to adjust the headlights would be cancelled out by the front lift being on.
Front higher than normal + FEL OFF = adjust headlights
Front higher than normal + FEL ON = don't adjust headlights

My question relstes to whether it is necessary to disablle this function every time you start the car. This seems to be what the manual says.

Your other posts mention that your C8 will be a Stingray. Stingrays do NOT have auto start/stop. That feature is ONLY on Erays and ZR1X because they have the hybrid battery.
Until someone makes a product that plugs into the OBDII port to override the auto start/stop (like they have for some other cars), yes it would have to be disabled every time you start the car.
