to change the mode the car starts in before starting the car? I keep forgetting to push the Z button so the car starts in Tour instead of My Mode, which is loud. My garage door points to my across the street neighbor's bedroom window.

The only modes the car will retain at start in are Tour or My Mode. If you want to start it quieter than Tour, set exhaust to Stealth in My Mode.

iirc the exhaust valves are open at first start then close in tour ......either start in the garage door down , back it into the garage, go stealth mode EV but a little talk to your neighbor that your are trying can go a long way ,you might even get a " i like it " from them or no big deal

If you switch to My Mode before you turn off the car then it will restart in My Mode but the initial bark is the same in all modes (when started under the same conditions). The car always starts with the NPP open but will close them after starting if the exhaust is set to Stealth or Tour.

I always back in for this exact reason…..and idle with the door down 10 15 seconds too so cold start is over.

My '22 retains sport mode. I switched to it from tour about 15 miles or so from getting it home July 2023. I was so impressed with the difference, that I haven't even played with other modes. Doesn't mean I won't, I hope to be driving it and having fun with it for many years..

My 24 doesn't retain Sport. I wish it did.

That is an undocumented "feature" is some older C8s. It was a carryover from the C7 which would restart in Sport mode.

I would buy some ear plugs for your neighbors, plus some donuts from time to time. =)

I applaud your thoughtfullness. It's nice to have caring, respectfull neighbors. Anymore, it's the opposite attitude "screw the neighbors". Those attitudes clearly indicate their mommies didn't love them enough so, they don't know how to behave appropriately.

Hold the "start" button without pressing the brake until the car switches to service mode, switch modes to weather (quietest), start car.

This is the way.

That will close the valves prior to starting the car but as soon as the car starts cranking over the valves will reopen and be open when the car starts and then close again. This has been documented by a forum member.

I never tried Stealth mode. The name implies that it would be quiet. Seems odd they wouldn't have a quiet start mode for this exact situation.

Start it with the garage door closed. If it's too loud to be in the garage when you do that, use the remote start button on the fob. If you shut it off in Tour the valves will close in about 20 to 30 seconds. Even quicker if you shut it off in MyMode with exhaust set to stealth, I think. My neighbors are car guys, but if I'm starting the car early on a weekend morning I do it with the garage closed.

Yes, it does seem odd. Even worse is that the have the feature on the Z06, but didn't bother to add it to the Stingray. Once GM has your money, they're not going to give you any new feature for free.

Start before you open the door, and gag yourself.
Back in, start before you open the door, and gag/smog everyone in the house.
I gave up. Now I hit the start button and the garage door opener at the same time. That is the way it is.

My neighbors know by now that I leave for car shows at 7:00 on Saturdays.
This is a bug in the C8 system. Maybe this is the best thing to light the CATS so they will warm up faster, but it is not user friendly.
All we can hope for is that C9 is improved.
