whats a dependable one ,just gonna sit on the dash or suction cup to the windshield then go in the glove box to secure it while parked ....i am to lazy to mount one under the mirror. Using an old beltronics vector but the power cord is rotting and shedding /it shuts off at times and says needs service.
You get what you pay for with RD. The best one on the market right now seems to be the Escort redline 360c. The current price is around $799.00 I have this one and it is fantastic especially with the updated firmware released a few weeks ago. This detector is undetectable to radar guns (most are detectable). Go to the Vortex website and look at his youtube videos and you can decide for yourself.
Escort Max360 MKII mounted on a Blendmount here. It is directional and works very well. No falses. It seems the Escort, Valentine and Uniden are very similar in performance and price. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them on the higher end. It comes down to personal preference then....
I have a Uniden R7 mounted on a Bartallama 3d holder that sits on top of the center screen. It works great and removes quickly and stored in the glovebox.

Ditto this. Very happy with my Redline 360C. Suction cup mounted on the windshield and hard wired. Works great!
There are a lot of good ones out there. Everyone has their favorite. Some cheap, some very expensive. Some of the high end ones have way too many features that I would never take time to learn.
Escort Max 3 fits what I need. Only $300. It has saved me several times in my C8.
I’ve had good luck with the Valentine One Gen2 — super solid performance and good range. It’s not hardwired on mine either, just suction-mounted like you’re planning. The Bluetooth setup works great with the phone app, and it’s small enough to toss in the glovebox when parked.
Also tried an Escort MAX 360 a while back, it’s a bit pricier but has nice directional alerts if you want something a little more modern.
Your old Beltronics brings back memories though — those things were tanks in their day 😄
None are foolproof. I used Escort for years and never had a ticket. Came close a few times. I finally decided it wasn't worth the hassel getting car wired everytime I bought a new Corvette. So i quit speeding. I set my cruise control four miles over and don't have to worry anymore. 2026 Z06. Number 13 for me.

Uniden R4. Best bang for the buck. I continue to be amazed by this thing every time i go out for a drive!
For me, distance is less important than false alarms. I've always been warned in plenty of time but false alarms will cause your mind to start tuning them out.
