I can not get the rear view camera to show actual distance to cars in rear view. They are actually closer than the rear view mirror shows when I check the drivers side external mirror. I believe it is maxed out or am I doing something wrong?
My Z06 doesn't show distances, but you can have the grid view. (2&3 LZ). Start the car, push the front camera button that is the right-most of the 3 buttons forward of the mode selector on the console. I believe it is the right-most button at the bottom of the display that shows the grid work. When I back up to the red line displayed, I am 8-10" from the curb with the red line on the curb.
If you have a 1LT interior, you don't have the front camera and probably cannot do the above steps.

Same here, you can adjust or magnify but not sure it can be set to "actual" distance- would be nice!

There are 3 views that can be set:
First is 1:1 so like the drivers door mirror you see the car distance as they are (required by OLD Law.)
The U.S., Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 111, established in 1968, requires the driver's side door mirror to have a 1:1 view (unit magnification). The rule was enacted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to ensure the driver has an accurate sense of distance for traffic approaching from the left.
The 2nd is a wider view about like the passenger door convex door mirror where it's printed Cars are CLOSER than they Appear.
The 3rd is even wider and gives a great wide view of the rear and shows cars very close to those on your fenders BUT that are even closer than they appear. That is where I have mine set as the best thing since sliced bread for safety! BUT MUST understand the cars are much closer than they appear.
The Owner's Manual shows how to adjust width as well as brightness. But it's a bit tricky. Best done when car is stopped. Only have a few seconds after you press the correct button to increase of decrease.
Yep widest view is best thing since sliced bread for safety IMO. BUT must get used to cars "being closer than they appear!"
Yep have not had an accident with another car in 65 years driving. Attribute that to always knowing where all cars are around me (and LUCK.) As the 1990's SAE Tech Paper on defensive driving said it's not only important to set the door mirrors correctly to see cars on your rear fenders BUT MORE important to follow cars coming up from the rear that will soon be on your bumpers. The Very Wide View available with the TV Mirror lets you see those cars when close to your rear fenders. Far better than C8 blind sport detection.
The rearview mirror camera has 3 settings that can be adjusted. Once the camera is active, push the left most button underneath to bring up your options. Push it again to cycle between the adjustments. The + / - buttons are how you adjust. The adjustments should be brightness, camera distance, and camera height, iirc.
I keep mine on the widest setting possible so that I have greater rearward visibility, but yes--that does mean that cars are closer than they appear.
