I am expecting deliver of my 26 SR in next few weeks. I am interested in a new radar detector and am thinking I'll mount it on dash. On my 19 GS I used a soft pad, a wood wedge and velcro and that worked well. I'm wondering if anyone has a better idea, and especially how best to route power cable. The Escort 360 Redline appears to come with an OBDC connector. I'm not interested in a mirror or suction cup mount. Is the OBDC connection less intrusive than the power outlet under the glove box?

Yep, after using a mirror tap for my 2020 C8 for 3 years and a Escort "Sticky Mount to the right of the mirror I switched to a dash mount. Like it better and moved that arrangement to my E-Ray when i got in February 2024. I use the 12 volt receptacle under the passenger dash. I bought a flush mount 90 degree plug and have all wires hidden from view until they come out by the windshield. Rather than Velcro I used 3M Dual Lock, 5 X stronger hold than Velcro. Only needed a 1/4" wood shim to make detector level. So rear on plastic dash just two pieces of Dual Lock. One on detector the other on the Dash. For the front 4 pieces of Dual Lock. One on each side of a 1/4 inch shim same width as Dual Lock then one on Detector and other on Dash
I recently added a detector (Uniden R8) and I wanted a clean dash mount as well. I found the Bartallama3D on EBay, and it works well at a really inexpensive price. Attaches to the rear of the screen. They are custom designed for all the major brands of detectors and the C8.
If you dont tint your windshield, try something like this (https://www.ebay.com/itm/115353726032) and do a mirror tap. I did it on my Z4 prior and got it placed way up high on the glass so it was barely noticeable. On my E, I'm having the windshield tinted, so will prob have to go with a visor mount like this (https://www.ebay.com/itm/125977373454).
A Blendmount with a Mirror Tap is the cleanest install and puts the detector up high and slightly out of sight.
Understand some like their mount. Although not cheap, I like and use the Blendmont wire tape to supply power. BUT the detector mounted below the mirror, IMO low interferes with forward vision. I as a Trained automatic response subconsciously scan the TV mirror set with widest view to see all cars around me and those that will be all the there. Especially today with many distracted drivers I do all I can to maintain my record of not having an accident with another car since I started driving ~65 years ago!
I mounted my detector on my two C7s and initially on my 2020 C8 mounted high to the right of the mirror out of my normal field of vision. I used Escorts "sticky mount" and added a very thin branded stainless wire tether just in case the vacuum let lose. In that ~10 years it only happed in summer when on a very hot day I parked facing the sun. Never when driving.
BUT for my 2020 C8 I found an easy way to mount on the dash. Liked that mounting method much better. Transferred that mounting to my 2024 E-Ray. It used the 12 volt power receptacle on the bottom of the passenger Dash with a 90 degree plug that fits flush. The wires are hidden in a "D" shape hollow rubber molding along the bottom of the dash attached with 3M tape. The wires fit under the upper Dash wing and are only visible near the windshield were they come out. IF parked in a questionably area easy to remove from the 3M Dual Lock and put in the glove compartment!

I switched from a BlendMount and mirror tap to this and like it so much better. Strongly recommend.
@SpeedyATL , my windshield is tinted and have ZERO problems with my Uniden R8 ($45 for both mirror mount & wire tap by Radar Mount)
Do you have a rearview camera mirror? Just want to make sure it works with that. I may recommend this to a couple people instead of the Blendmount with that huge cost difference.
Bartallama3D for my Uniden R3. Under $40, you can't go wrong with this one! While the Blendmount looks like it is engineered for the space shuttle, the one for the C8 is way too expensive! I actually have a Blendmount in my VW.

Yes, I do have a rearview camera mirror and 100% no issues with radar detector/rearview cam functions. FWIW, this $45 solution is rock solid and over delivers for its price point. Photo below for reference

I got the Uniden R8 W and installed it with the blendmount like many others have said. Make sure you get the longer wire option if you go with this ( I think it’s 18 inches). It just makes it easier if you have big fingers.
Super easy install. Took minutes. Looks professional and stays put even when you are lighting things up on the dashboard.
