Default Climate Control System

Well I think I have a problem but see what you folks think, 2020 HTC Z51 with 47,000 miles on it. As the weather is getting colder here in NY I've notices some change in my CC system. Since I bought the car new in 2020 I have never made any adjustment to the CC system except temperature. I have always left the system on AUTO and it has worked. Lately it seems like there is little to no air flow coming out of the center vents . No matter how much I adjust the temps up there is no change of fan speed . There is still warm air in the car but hardly coming from these vents. So I pushed the console button for center vents and they open . I turn the fan speed up and hot air blows out. So not a heat problem. Does anyone know if there is a separate module for the AUTO system and if so where is it located. Just asking as I have an appointment next month for my NYS inspection with the dealer and will ask at that time. Thanks aand enjoy the ride.

Default Take out the trash......

This from Purolator's website: A clogged cabin air filter hinders airflow.

Have you noticed it taking longer to defog your windshield in the morning? It could be because your cabin air filter needs replacement. Your car’s climate control system depends on a clean cabin air filter. When the filter is full of dirt and debris, air cannot flow properly through the system. You’ll notice that your windows won’t defrost as well if you haven’t changed your cabin air filter.

Congratulations on being a true daily driver. Pushing 50,000 is gold star worthy.

If the fan speed and vents change with your inputs , I would look at replacing the cabin air filter. It may be clogged up preventing good air flow

OOOPPS.. ^^^ he was posting as I was

OK good thoughts on the cabin air filter. I last changed it a year ago so I'll take a look at it. As I mentioned air comes out in manual mode and the fan speed can be varied but I give the filter a shot. THANKS

Did you check to see where the warm air is actually coming from . Like the Floor vents or the defroster vents before thinking something was wrong. You've got it set on Auto. So things are based on temp. and software programing . Things might be explained in the owners manual. I was totally surprised the first time I got in the car and drove away noticing my hands getting warm . The Heated steering wheel comes on at 60deg.F. My Jeeps heated steering wheel comes on at 40 degrees.

Hopefully nothing is wrong with your Vette. Id take a look in the owners manual . Or by chance did you hit the defrost button on the wall of buttons.

If you are in Auto and the car is putting heat in the cabin, heat does not blow out in the vents. Heat comes out on the floor (and the windshield).

Heat comes out of the center ducts as well as dash and floor grills when in AUTO mode. As you move temp switch up or down the fan will increase or decrease speed. This is not happening. In the 5 years I've had the car this is how it's always worked. I only usually move the temp switch between 72 in summer and 75 in winter. It's 30-40 * here now so after the engine warms up and I'm set on 75* the fan speed would normally increase . It no longer works that way but if I manually increase the fan speed it increases. Also if I select the center vent switch hot air blows out of them. So I'm thinking that there is a separate control that diverts the air to these duct and it's not working. The other thought is if the temp sensor is not functioning correctly. Unfortunately I don't have the equipment to interrogate the different modules to see where the fault is. Looks like I'll have to have the dealer plug in and see what they get.

You need to manually change the source of the air via the buttons or screen. I.e. - toggle the switch so that the air will either flow through feet, windshield, face or combinations of those. If you change it to face and still no air comes out, then either the cabin filter is clogged (unlikely especially since you just changed it <1 year ago) or that the flap motor to change the air flow direction is stuck due to debris or is broken.
