Default E85 Help

I am looking at a beautiful all black and heavily loaded 23 LT2 Z51 with all the bells and whistles listed 90 K new with headers and high flow cats Corsa exhaust, aircleaner upgraded, and 26K miles. Makes my pecker stick out, but...
The carfax shows trans filter changed and regular services then in July 2024 service for new fuel pumps new fuel lines installed at a Chevy dealer on further inspection the car there is a gauge om the driver's A pillar to measure alcohol or fuel mixture and is plugged in to OBD port below dash. I assume the computer has been unlocked and tuned for E85/Meth set up. The dealer of course has no idea but I know/assume the car has been run on E85 I am just not sure if the dealer service replaced the damaged / replaced the E85 set up or if it is still installed since gauge still there and plugged in.
I want to jump on but darned afraid of catching something at the same time. Anyone with advice on

IMO - there are way too many c8s for sale to be dicking with whatever hassles this might entail. Unless you are getting a ridiculous discount I would just go buy a different one.

Default Don't Fuel Me

E85 is not found at every gas station. In Texas, the Dallas and Houston metroplexes should have a number of E85 locations. West Texas from the Panhandle to the Gulf not so much. Drive to the station you normally use. Is there a yellow cap dispenser? If not, check around your 'hood to see what the availability of E85 is going to be. The A pillar gauges are to monitor ethanol levels and help tune the car. They are permanent. Often used on cars that are drag raced. So beware the mileage displayed might have happened a 1/4 mile at a time.

Concur.......
That car was raced/driven on a track or drag strip! Plenty of other C8s out there to purchase, then with one with a sketchy past!

Nope, hard pass, and no dealership will touch it.

You likely would have a powertrain warranty claim denied, if that is important to you.

Default Were It Me?

Not only do I think this car was converted to be raced, I'd suspect the OBD II plug regulates the EFM system. If you unplug it, it might not start? You have a lot of reasons to pass on this car. But if they aren't good enough, try unplugging it before you buy.

Alot of weird responses here.
the car can run E stock tune. only up to about e30 though. I am do see someone had a gauge for that and left it in the car but who knows. You dont have to RACE a car to play with easy modes like fuel or other stuff.

you can look at the Fuel rail and see if it has a lfex fuel sensor installed. if it does the car was Tuned and the Power train warranty would be voided.

1) Make no sense having new fuel pumps and fuel lines replaced. 2) With a professional E85 tune there is zero need to replace fuel pumps and or fuel lines. Of course the dealer has "no idea about anything", we know that's standard, they don't care.

That's Two strikes, don't YOU be holding the bag.

23 z51 2lt isn't worth 90k. Mods do not add value to the car. You're crazy if you pay that price. And the odds are the person selling that car beat the living **** out of it .

OP did not state the selling price. The 90k figure was stated as NEW:
listed 90 K new

I'd pass on that one, way too many garage queens out there to settle for anything else

It may not be tuned. You can use E30 with the stock tune. The gauge may be using the OBD port for AFR and have a stand alone ethanol sensor so the gauge can be used to properly mix the fuel.

This is the most likely scenario.

what brand gauge is it?
