Default 2026 Changes or bugs???

I just got a 2026 stingray a couple of months ago which is my 3rd C8. C8 is still the best sports car I have every had, but there are a few things with the 2026 that I don't like that are either bugs or design changes.

1) The new left video screen will not retain your selection. I select tire pressure monitor on this screen. Seems to keep it during the day for a few drives, but every morning for a new drive, it has gone back to the menu screen.
2) If you select sport mode, when you restart the car it goes back to touring mode. My previous 2023 would stay in sport mode. It was only track mode that went back to touring on a restart.
3) You cannot select transmission mode in MyMode. In my 2023, I could select "sport" transmission shift program in MyMode. Can't do that now.
4) The built in google is nice but doesn't always work. Half the time if I say "OK GOOGLE" it switches to Android Auto to do the function instead of the built in. If I am in built in google maps, it switches to android auto maps. It does this if you just say "ok google" or if you use the voice button on the steering wheel. This is clearly a bug.

If anyone knows workarounds or fixes for these let me know.

BTW I got Blade silver with Santorini Blue interior. It looks GREAT!!!

I'm patiently waiting for a software update. 2026 SR, my issues:
1) doesn't matter how i select HUD layout, doesn't matter if I check or uncheck box that attaches a specific HUD to a drive mode, HUD layout will not change when i change drive modes (this includes mymode and z-mode). i've had my SR for 6 weeks, the only way to change the HUD layout is manually
2) when i change into any preset drive mode the graphic appears for a few seconds and disappears, when i change into mymode the graphic with edit configurations screen appears for a few seconds and disappears, when i change into z-mode the edit configurations screen appears and never disappears, will stay there for the entire drive until i X out
3) the left screen will sometimes retain my selection, sometimes not. it does whatever it feels like with no discernable pattern

Congrats of your purchase! Awesome to own the best car you've ever had. Sorry I can't assist you in what seem to be software issues. 3 C8's is pretty amazing, what are you thinking of for your next purchase?

I purchased the best car I've ever owned nearly 15 years ago, still makes me smile, sometimes actually giggle. And when I park it, I still look back at it and appreciate everything about it. It's 21 years old now and they are selling for about 3X as much as when mine was new, plus difficult to find.

Hopefully someone here can help you with what's going on. Otherwise a trip or few to the dealer, which is always a PITA.

I am experiencing the same issues with my 2026 Eray.
1. I have no idea what the check box is supposed to do because nothing happens when I check and uncheck it.
2. I drive mostly in Z mode, and the configurations stays on until I X them out.
3. On start up, the left screen has a mind of its own.

None of the above really bother me, but I am getting more accustomed to using the 3 new screens and all the information they deliver. Heck, it took a few hundred miles of driving before I realized the left screen can be swiped left or right for more information. Coming from a 2021 Stingray, the new screens have nicer graphics and a ton more information.

Also a new 2026 owner (came from a 2020) and find the new dash amazing in speed and resolution and sucking in operational issues and consistency like those above. And why do I have to have three navigation sections at the same time? Why eliminate the selection process that the 2020 had? And at least in my case the dealer service and my salesperson were clueless as to how it is all "supposed" to work. Wouldn't a GM video going through the kaleidoscope of choices be VERY HELPFUL....... Anxiously awaiting a nice update...... ( I know, don't hold my breath)

Very helpful. When I posted, I was still about 85% sure what I typed was accurate and 10% sure I was losing my mind (don't ask about the last 5%). And you're right, none of these issues are important, but they are annoying for about 3-5 min each time I notice them.

I thought this was typical on all models? (it would always go back to Tour mode)

Yeah I think only MyMode would stick on pre-2026 right? Does that still stick? What I find most irritating is you can't turn off the stupid animations! You could before. Why remove features? They should only add features and options. And now can't use the wheel on the steering wheel to scroll through stations. Now it rewinds and fast forwards. Which is nice, but they should have an option on whatever you prefer. Not that difficult... Not to mention now it takes several actions on the left screen so you can adjust the brightness on the HUD. I think it was idiotic to have removed physical buttons for that. Once again, they have people making these choices who obviously don't drive cars.

It is - same with all years and the C7 too. Turning the car off in Sport or Touring (or Weather iirc) returns the car to Touring on next startup. Only MyMode stays.

My 2020 C8 will restart in Sport Mode but according to the owners manual it isn't supposed to. My C7 would restart in Sport Mode but that was a documented feature in the owners manual on my 2015.

I can confirm that this is what happens in my 2026 C8 Stingray.

I did find it interesting on the 2026 that if I have it in Track mode then go into Z mode and back out of Z mode, it returns to Track mode. On my 2025, only if I were in MyMode prior to entering Z mode would it return to that mode otherwise would default back to Tour. Now if they do a software update with a setting to disable the animations...but at least it's better than the new Dark Horse on which you have to toggle to MyMode on every startup and the animations that you can't turn off take over the entire instrument cluster. So stupid...

For me checking the checkbox makes the Driver Information Screen (DIC) layout change based on my selected driving mode, Unchecking it keeps the DIC layout in whatever drive mode I select on the Aux Screen no matter which drive mode I switch to.

For example: with the checkbox checked, the DIC layout changes based on my selected drive mode.
With the checkbox unchecked, if I select Track on the Aux Screen the DIC layout stays in Track no matter which drive mode I select.

Count me in as also confused as to how to get the HUD to change to match my selected driving mode. I am only allowed to choose one and only one HUD layout and that is all I get.

To change HUD mode, press the far right touch button on the small left screen. Then select one of the 3 modes for the HUD to stay in: tour, sport or track. Once you select the desired mode, the HUD should stay in that mode no matter what drive mode you select on the center console. The HUD mode is separate from the drive mode.

Yes, thanks for the checkbox explanation and what is does. The new screens just take a little time getting used to, but they are an improvement IMO.

I wish GM provided a physical manual so we can read it while performing the changes. Using the Chevrolet app in the infotainment screen seems to confuse the process.

My C7 (2019 Z) will stay in sport mode when shut off in sport mode. Any other mode, and it will revert back to touring.

I have a suggestion which may not accomplish anything, but maybe if enough of us sign the letter, GM will change the way the dash works. I do love the new graphic quality and speed, but there are a bunch of capabilities lost on the new dash from the 2020 I had. Given how much technology is in there, they sure should be able to accommodate us with an update with some very meaning full improvements/changes. What do you think, shall "we" write up something and get off to Mary Bara and copy Josh Holder?

We probably won't all agree and what's needed, but maybe we can get some changes that would make more of us happy.
