Has anyone replaced the run flats with an allseason radial?...I have read alot of the pros and cons of run flats and I am wondering if some have replaced them with a quieter all season radial...The continetal extreme DWS 06 plus gets very good reviews...Just for the record, I have a 24 2lt picked out but am concerned about the road noise reported....I am a casual driver so I don't really care too much about the hard driving business....thanks...and I realize there are issues to cross if you do have a flat
There's probably about a gazillion threads here and at the C7 Forums about RF replacement. No reason I can see to vary from Michelins, which is what I'll do when my runflats need replacement. Do an "Advanced search across the C8 and C7 Forums and find more than you'll probably ever wish to read. All the best.
Michelin's run flats are so much better than the Goodyear Run Craps on the C5 and C6. I see no need to eliminate the run flats. I don't think you'll get that much noise difference. Tire contact patch size and tread pattern are the major factors in "road noise", not the sidewalls.
The dealership will let me drive it so I will make my own determination....the opinions about tires and cabin noise are all over the place going from very quiet to having to wear earbuds ....I need to find out before I write my check out...thanks for the help

Surface texture of the road significantly affects the tire noise. Worn asphalt and concrete is noisier than smooth asphalt and I really notice the tire noise on rough surfaces.
Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus have a good reputation for being a low noise performance tire but they don't come in runflats. Personally I wouldn't give up the handling and runflat characteristics of the OEM Michelins for the slightly lower noise level of the DWS06 tires.
Allow me to chime in with my very recent experience. I'm still driving my 08 C6 while waiting to decide what to do about my next C8. I replaced my tires two weeks ago after ordering the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 A/S online from America's Tires. They installed all four tires on Tuesday. We went out to dinner Saturday night and when I started my car it showed low tire pressure of fifteen psi. I didn't think twice before driving it home on the freeway because I've always had run flats on the car and it was only a few miles away. I pumped the tire back up to 30 PSI and forgot about it until Monday to take back to the tire store.
I came out to the garage Monday morning and tire is completely flat to the ground. It was the moment I realized that I didn't order the tires with the Zero Pressure designation. No wonder the ride was slightly smoother and quieter. To the credit of America's Tires they removed the screw and patched the tire, and ordered the run flat version of the Michelin for me and give me full credit for the non run flats. There is simply no way I would give up the peace of mind of having run flats in exchange for a slight ride improvement. One more note, the steering feels more precise with the run flats due to the stiffer sidewalls.
Continentals have better traction and are quieter, but no RF. Like 90% of other cars on road, you just have to carry the Fix-a-Flat kit and portable compressor.
Buy a good run flat like the Michelin brand, runflats sure beat the stuck on the side of the road with an air compressor & a tire plug kit trying to fix a puncture while semi trucks are blowing by you
I have a new 2026 Z06, on my 100 mile drive home from the delivery dealer I drove on a few different road surfaces and depending on the surface and age of the surface the tire noise ranged from reasonably quite to loud but the majority of the time I would say it was not a factor. From my standpoint this is a performance/race car and things like road noise, stiff suspension, tight seats kind of “go with the territory” and are expected…..as far as run flats go..yeah, the first time you see your nice C8 being dragged up on to a flatbed you will regret not having them…
I will throw in my experience. I have changed all of my run-flats for non (Continental DWS06). There were run-flats on my 23 Z51, only 3000 miles, with mag ride, and I was really surprised at first with the smoothness of the ride. That was until I got to the bad roads and the car and I were beat up pretty good. I understand the risk with non run-flats, but my driving habits really shouldn't leave me stranded, for too long, if I was to get a flat. The ride and noise in my opinion is better with the non run-flats. I do have to say I have not had any experience with the new run-flats.
Also, if you do go with the non run-flats I suggest going to a size larger as it adds a little more protection for the wheels. At least in my case.
I was contemplating the same thing…..but when I swapped the Cup2Rs for 4S, it was like going to non run flats with respect to road noise. So I’m pleased with what I got.
