Watched a video about cheap tricks for your c8. Tried the slip a piece of colored vinyl under the "team Corvette" on the driver's side of the windshield. It wouldn't go all the way in between the dash and the windshield. Too flimsy. So I cut out a piece to that clear thin plastic everything is packaged in about 7" by 2", then cut the vinyl 7"x4" and wrapped it around the plastic. It slipped right in with no problem at all. Thought I'd pass this along if anyone had the same problem
Couldn't find any plastic. Used thin cardboard here. Probably would also work Peel backing from vinyl Fold bottom over and trim if needed, then slide between windshield and dash. Simple as that Plastic/ cardboard aligned with top of vinyl and centered
Photos three and four are out of order and should be transposed
…just a heads up…I suggest using a thin piece of plastic…I used cardboard to mount the vinyl to and it warped after a couple of years and I just had to remove mine….it pulled away from most of the letters when it warped…
What kind of vinyl?
Some posters say get it at Wal-Mart or Hobby Lobby...but what"s the stuff called...in other words, where can I find it?
It's not shelf paper is it?
Stuff to make homemade book covers?
A co-member had a post a month ago or so where they used felt (or other material) and had leftovers
he would offer to others for just a self-addressed envelope.
He tested and found this felt" better" than his previous materials (mostly color/ sun fade as I recall).
FWIW Love this mod, yet I hesitate because removal seems difficult.

I put a colored piece of film in there and now it has slipped down. Only half of the Corvette is colored. I am going to have to fish it out now. Sam

Self adhesive vinyl squares. Walmart, michaels, hobby lobby, craft stores, etc. Can't recall where I got the green one, but Walmart has many colors for about $1 a square in the craft/ fabric area

This wouldn't work on my 2020 Stingray. I've been told that 2020 is the only year that won't work. Windshield must be to close to the dash or something like that.

I have done a number of these on many Vettes now. A simple manilla folder cut to size is a perfect backing. Very thin, but stiff. 7.5" x 1.5" typically works well. I have run across a few where windshield adhesive, etc can interfere a bit but in that case trim the width down slightly. If you ever need to remove a thin trim panel tool will grab it enough to pull out.

Same as I. Found a green manila folder that matched great. Slipped right in.
I did this as well but then my windshield got cracked by a rock. When replacing the windshield I told safelite I wanted to see windshield before installation to confirm it was OEM. They took me in the shop area and showed it to me. I took my vinyl strip out of my pocket and put it on the back side of the windshield. Looks great.
I wouldn’t recommend breaking your windshield but if it happens, it’s a great opportunity.
