What is everyome using for the PDR SD card? Is there a specific one that is required or recommended? I plan on running it all the time essentially like a dash cam. Thanks for any info. I appreciate it.
Get a high endurance card, like those intendd for dashcams and security cameras. The minimum class is in the owner's manual but just about any modern quality will exceed it. Exceeding the class requirement only helps when downloading information from the card onto a computer. And be aware that there a lot counterfeit cards out there.
It might. I haven't tried one in my car, in original format or reformatted.
There is usable disk space on the card besides the encryption stuff, so it may work right out of the box.
Try it, and let me know?
I'm using (I think) a Samsung high capacity class 10 card I got on Amazon.
Does that card come with built in encryption? I think not, so it should work right out of the box.
Even if it does, you're not using it, so good stuff.
I use a SanDisk 512GB Extreme PRO.
Had a bit of a problem first using it. Put it in straight from the package without formatting it. The car saw it and I tried to format it from the car. It disappeared right after that. Couldn't see it again. Took it out and formatted it on my laptop in exFAT format. Still didn't show up. Decided to give up for the night and left the SD card still plugged into the car.
The next morning, I tried it again and it showed up. Not sure if it was a 2026 bug. Letting the car sit overnight reset something and it worked afterwards.

AND buy from a know quality source! Over half the devices of this type on Amazon are Bootleg. I had the issue with my top brand name SanDisk USB Flash Drive AND the PDR SD Card bought from Amazon. For the SC Card it was not overwriting once filled.

Bootleggers are smart. They copy the Top Brands!
From Google AI, paraphrased: Counterfeit flash drives and SD cards are highly prevalent on Amazon, with estimates suggesting could be ~50% of listings in high-value categories, including memory products, could be counterfeit.
How to Avoid: Purchase only from "Sold by Amazon, Shipped by Amazon.com" or verified official brand stores.
IMO, not foolproof way to avoid. I have found buying batteries with Amazon name, may not be counterfeit but fail open in short time. Perhaps buying from "official Brand store" may work.

Maybe the PDR had trouble reading the VTOC/sector map on a card that big?
I doubt GM put or chose state of the art processor/RAM/ROM in the PDR system.
The 2024 OM says " exFat formatted, class 10 SD card, minimum size 16GB" on page 131.
Your card is half a terabyte.
I have a 64GB SD card in mine, but it will not overwrite once full. Is it because of the card or is there another issue since I have that option enabled in the PDR?

Make sure the write protect tab isn't enabled on the SD card.
