Default First Corvette Questions...

Good morning everyone, I bought my first corvette on Saturday... Wasn't planning on it but they gave me $7000 over KBB for my truck at 109k miles that I was just going to get a ballpark estimate on. So I believed it was a sign from god to pull the trigger and buy the vette ive been eyeballing. A Roswell Green LT3 (Z51 package) with 300 miles on it for $86k... Which here in Dallas I couldnt find even 2026 LT2s around that price. The out the door price with the premium warranty package and taxes at $99K. Saying this to see if I got a decent deal or not lol... Just was curious if they made a trunk box to store stuff air tight so it doesnt have the powerplant mixture of cologne that fills that area? Also any other tips besides the brake pad replacement which I noticed very quickly that I should know about or also anyone in the North Texas area that knows a community that I could be apart of. Thank you in advance and glad to be apart of the community!

Congrats, get signed up for Spring Mountain ASAP and start planning on car shows and events.
You will be in the "Corvette Brotherhood" so by all means, live that dream and carry that torch proudly.
I am not on Facebook but there are many groups and events for you to enjoy once you get your car.

Congrats, welcome to vette ownership!

It's hard to tell if you got a good deal or not without seeing the window sticker. With 300mi on it, did they sell it to you as new, or used?

I think you got a good deal. A few weeks ago, I bought a Red Mist Z51,2LT, GT2 seats with MagRide, Front Lift and other options. It was just under $98k and I paid $87k.

The trunk (in back) is sealed. I have never seen anyone say anything about powerplant odors in the trunk. However I have seen folks complain about the "new car" smells in the trunk - the resins from the trunk bucket. The other thing is the trunk space can get pretty warm, but opinions vary on whether its an issues. Its not for me, but many try to insulate that area. The front storage (frunk) does not get warm like that.

Not sure what to call it but both my c8s had strong chemical odors in the trunk. I carry stuff in there but never clothes or food.

Many think its something leaching from the hard plastic trunk bucket. I have a 2021 that I got new, but I never noticed the issue - many do though. The frunk also has plastic bucket but I don't see so many reports of the odor there. Maybe its the heat in back that warms up the trunk bucket causing it to leach more.

Yep, if I had to describe its a "hot plastic" odor

HI!
Congratulations on the green beast! it's gorgeous!
As soon as you can, call in with your vin, to check and make sure it's good to use. Sometimes, with buybacks (if it was), it unfortunately disqualifies it from being used for the school.
if you're the original, registered owner, then you would qualify.
For the odors, we've had good luck with plain old baking soda, sprinkled on the carpet, overnight. Then vacuuming it up. Also, a can of coffee grounds, left in the cupholder can absorb, though it does leave a hint of coffee smell behind.

Hope you're able to attend, but either way, you'll love the car!

Fine choice of color! Very low hanging fruit is to black out your valve stems.

Looks like I see red pixels for the brake calipers, so you must get a red engine cover, it will make you happier every time you see your engine. If you got GM points, that will help towards it.

Put a memory card in the slot next to your glove box, and enable the front camera recording feature full time. You never know.

The brake pads, yes...I haven't done it yet, next up. Only other things I've done is engine bay lighting (the first C8 I saw in 2020 had it, I just needed to have it despite poor bang for buck) and air deflectors (I got them near-free, but they're only $57.39 for the pair on Amazon at the moment...if they keep my trunk cooler as claimed, that would be nice).
