Congratulations on the green beast! it's gorgeous!
As soon as you can, call in with your vin, to check and make sure it's good to use. Sometimes, with buybacks (if it was), it unfortunately disqualifies it from being used for the school.
if you're the original, registered owner, then you would qualify.
For the odors, we've had good luck with plain old baking soda, sprinkled on the carpet, overnight. Then vacuuming it up. Also, a can of coffee grounds, left in the cupholder can absorb, though it does leave a hint of coffee smell behind.
Hope you're able to attend, but either way, you'll love the car!

Looks like I see red pixels for the brake calipers, so you must get a red engine cover, it will make you happier every time you see your engine. If you got GM points, that will help towards it.
Put a memory card in the slot next to your glove box, and enable the front camera recording feature full time. You never know.
The brake pads, yes...I haven't done it yet, next up. Only other things I've done is engine bay lighting (the first C8 I saw in 2020 had it, I just needed to have it despite poor bang for buck) and air deflectors (I got them near-free, but they're only $57.39 for the pair on Amazon at the moment...if they keep my trunk cooler as claimed, that would be nice).
