Time to replace the battery. Not a performance issue, just a preventative maintenance. Don't want my wife stuck on the roadside waiting for AAA. Her DD eh!

Is the Optima for a $100 more worth the extra dough?

I went with a Walmart Maxx H6 AGM for $200. It has a 4 year free replacement warranty and Walmarts are everywhere in case it craps out on a road trip.

Good points well taken. Feedback that amazon's Rufus makes about Optima is potentially hard to access customer service. This is amazon's own AI guy saying I could have trouble with the warranty. Walmart is 2.3 miles from us. Battery ships free delivery next day.

Thanks.

The fit was good except the handles are in the way for the top hold down so the hold down goes over them. The OEM battery doesn't have handles, a battery strap makes it easier to get out.

The Optima today is not the Optima of the past. Walmart's AGM is probably the better choice. Can't beat 2.3 miles!

Your servicing Chevrolet dealer will be in the best position to assist with these battery repairs and answer any questions you may have. If interested, our team would like the opportunity to provide our support to you in this effort. To do so, please send us an email with these details to socialmedia@gm.com. With that, be sure you include "papillion/Corvette Forum" in the subject line of your outreach. We thank you for your cooperation.

Just a head's up for you........ if I remember correctly from our APSIS custom carbon fiber steering wheel days, you have a 2020 or 2021 C8........ When I replaced my 2020 original battery, be aware that there's NO built in handle on the battery and it's somewhat difficult to get out..... back breaker..... your back.... I did mine standing in the frunk. You have to angle it to get it out.

Good news is basically all the new batteries have a built in handle, and re installing the new battery is easy, without any cuss words..... LOL !

take care,
Richard

There are straps available that make removing the battery almost as easy as having built in handles.

This makes a lot of sense and the price is right.

I wish that was the case. My local dealership is for the lack of a better word. TERIBLE. Every time I went there the service manager would say, "You didn't buy the car from us" I bought the car 14 months ago from the dealership they bought out and moved into less than a month later. I had battery issues with the car several times and was told the battery failed but was initially denied a warranty claim because I have an OPD2 port lock installed and to check for a parasitic draw would cost me $230 an hour for several hours of testing even though the battery repeatedly failed. I bought the car new 14 months ago, At one point they were so adversarial, I had to ask do they even want my business. I'll never go back or recommend them to anyone.

Thanks for the battery information. How hard is it to replace? On my C7 it was a real pain.

Optima was the battery to have on road race cars since they do not leak, but the lifespan was short.

Default Trouble

Virtually all of the negative auto battery reviews were warranty issues. Makes sense. If your battery does what it is supposed to do you don't comment online. So based on a post in this thread, I bought an Ever Start 4 year at Walmart. If I draw a 15 mile circle around our house, there are 4 WM Supercenters inside it. Any US town big enough to have a stop light has a WM. And among other things, WM is good at returns. Interesting amazon was one of the worst. Who'd have thought?
