I've read several threads on this topic and tried many things (short of going back to the dealer) with no success. I traded in my '23 Stringray for a '26 Stringray. I expected to be able to just take the USB stick with ~3,200 songs from the '23 and plug it in the '26 and have it work. It didn't, and I've gone through many gyrations/trial and error based on the input from the various threads on this topic.
I made sure all songs were MP3, and I've tried new 64GB SanDisk USB sticks (and other brands that I had), I've formatted them to FAT32, exFAT, NTFS all without success. The car will recognize the USB stick, display the albums/songs on the screen (and play them when selecting on the screen), but will not index the albums and songs to be able to use voice commands for selection. I even tried a USB stick that was working fine from a '23 Chevy Traverse, in the vette and it wouldn't even read it. When I reinserted that stick back into the Traverse, now that one won't work (car won't even read it - the one that was working). I also loaded all the songs on my phone and tried to use via CarPlay, and again doesn't work.
I know there are those that will say forget the stick and use another APP - don't waste the response. I like the music I have and convenience of selecting from the stick.

Any ideas?
Your convinced what you know doesn't work is the best alternative. Interesting my dear Watson. Interesting.
When you said it was working for reading, selecting and playing but not for voice commands, that told me the size, type and format was all good.
So I was going to suggest looking at the metafile data for ONE of the mp3 songs, change it and test it. See if you can find the key property item the voice commands are looking for. There are plenty of youtube videos on how to do this.
I do not know the 2026 C8, mine is 2024. On mine, I issue the voice commands directly to my iPhone. E.g. “Hey Siri, play…”
Lastly, all the entertainment systems I have used required the thumb drive to be in a very specific USB port.
Good luck !

No help. It was an OnStar rep that responded (I don't have an OnStar subscription) and said this case was closed and that there was another "dedicated team" that would be better equipped to address the issue. The embedded link just took me back to an OnStar site.
I would be pissed if a working stick was placed in my vette and then stopped after I put it in my other car...WTF is GM doing ? I had a stick that WAS working, then stopped. I then just grabbed a new stick, formatted it and copies files and so far so good. Good luck man, I wish I had more answers other than GM is crap.
I have a mix of Apple and non Apple files on my usb that played fine in my Ridgeline but not in my Vette. I ended up renaming all the Apple files, thankfully only about 150, and they now play. Just in case anyone has run into this problem.
