I have a 2024 Stingray. Recently the maps in NAV stopped showing street names.
My question is what do you get if you subscribe to Google for the NAV?
I had a 2015 Stingray and the NAV system in was absolutely great.. On my 24 the font size for the street names ,when it had them, was so tiny.
I would like to know if the subscription will get me decent NAV.
I have tried Car Play but it is sorely lacking in features.
Thanks

You need subscription with OnStar that includes a data plan - or a workaround. The data plan provides the map data necessary for your Google Maps nav hosted in your infotainment system. You do not need a subscription with Google.
You mentioned CarPlay but did not say which nav app you tried. CarPlay allows you to run a nav app hosted in you cell phone but display it on the infotainment screen. I use Waze on my phone with CarPlay. It has all the features of well developed nav app. What are finding lacking with CarPlay?
What I did not like was that my route is not shown on the map and there are no "Heads up" message on the screen for your next turn. I was using Google maps with Car Play.
I will look into WAZE very soon as I have a trip coming up that I will need a functioning NAV system.
Thank you al for your responses.

Well i got WAZE on my phone. BEFORE I open WAZE there is a map on my info screen. When I open WAZE the map that comes up looks nothing like what is on my info screen. I tried putting an address in the WAZE app and said go. When I move the car a voice, from where i do not know, is telling me where to drive. The arrow icon follows my car movements but there is no route showing on the map on the info screen. I do not know how to get the WAZE map on the info screen.
At this point, I give up.
I have an $88,000 car with no NAV!!!! And the reason I do not is 100% because of corporate greed!!!
I'm 76 years old and have been a GM fan all my life, but this C8 will be my last GM car!!!!

Get someone to show you how to connect your phone properly and how to enable Carplay. Sounds like you are hearings waze voice only which happens if you are only bluetooth connected. The map is probably not a waze map. Your phone needs to be connected via Wifi to the car. And you must start the carplay app in the car.

Most folks that use Waze via carplay like it....actually prefer it....to the Nav system in the car. I think once you figure it out you will too. And, once its set up, the connection will be seamless and ready everytime you start up.
Its not an age thing - many of us are that older are way way older. The set up is not intuitive. There are some steps to follow to pair the phone via bluetooth and Wifi (both must be enabled). If you are hearing the voice instructions from waze through your infotainment system, it sound like you have paired it with BT. But you must also have WiFi enabled (or you could use a cable but its not necessary) in order for CarPlay to work. You have touch the CarPlay icon on the car screen to start it up. And then if it worked right, you will see available phone apps. Touch the waze app and Waze will come up. Really --- once figure it out will be fine. There are instructions in your manual for all this - I don't consider them very well written - I had to sit i the car an mess with it a while. So, try that, or find someone with a C8 that can show you how.
As @Andybump said above you must use the Waze app through CarPlay. Now that you have the app on your phone there should be a Waze icon on your car's infotainment screen once you connect your car to CarPlay. Open the Waze app on the infotainment screen and enter your destination information. Then the route will display on your car's infotainment screen and the voice will come through the car's speakers.
There are YouTube videos on suggested settings and how to use Waze in general. Once you use Waze for a bit you'll like it. It has a lot of options that you can take advantage of. Hope that helps you out!
