Thanks for the post...I was hoping they would have gone into a bit more detail on the engineering behind the "boosted shift", as it seems they have utilized some of the gear box mechanical inertia to aid forward performance during shifts in Performance Launch mode, which has me scratching my head a bit.
C8 Automatic DCT Durability Forecast given poor C7 A8
I am not sure why the fine engineers who present this DCT transmission with such technical confidence were not able to achieve customer-pleasing durability in the C7 A8 given that transmission’s 10,000 mile service life between shudder repairs that often take over 30 days to complete.
My C7 Z51 is back at my selling dealer now to address shudder despite prior transfusion of new release fluid and replaced but similarly weak torque convertor.
Despite Terri Schulke’s design assurances, I’m not sure why we should believe durability on the C8 will be better given GMs 8L90/8L45 A8 troubles, nor why we who have placed trust by purchasing a C7 have to sue GM for customer satisfaction with our vehicles.
I don’t see Corvette car clubs pressing this with GM either surprisingly lining up their members to see and order the C8 despite the C7s poor durability.
The fact that a large percentage of Corvette dealers do not allow pre-purchase test drives also implies GM has no doubt they will deliver on customer expectations despite lots of data at Manufacturer to the contrary.
I won’t order any series Corvette in the future without a significant test drive. The trans shudder is not perceptible until car is fully warm.
We’re talking about GM Mark of Excellence—that’s related

Manufacturers should have a philosophy not to release questionable product that doesn’t stand up in pre-release testing or years of customer field use.
The full text PDF of the class action lawsuit details Customers expectations regarding engineering durability.
That philosophy is related to a “GM Mark of Excellence” that clearly doesn’t have meaning anymore.
What’s related is some of the same engineers professed the engineering excellence of the 8L90.
Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me.
