GM calls this a "shield" . Price, $4.43.
It mounts near the passenger side firewall. It just slips on one of the pinch weld seams directly across from the header tube.
I dont see where anything could mount in it or attach to it.
The part itself looks like it could be for mounting a module or some kind of electrical part.

Any idea what its for?
