LTH makes straight pipes for $850 and their high flow cats are $1350.

Are the straight pipes louder than than HFC option?

Cat Bypass / Straight Pipes / Test Pipes will always be loudest - there is zero sound attenuation.

High Flow catted systems are somewhere in the middle. Our HJS catalyst cores are 200 cells per square inch (cpsi). Due to the high concentration of the precious metals in the core (platinum, palladium, rhodium) and the physical size of the cores we choose, we're able to offer a No Check Engine Light Guarantee - even with the increased performance and flow.

OEM cats are the most restrictive, and quiet, of the three options. These are typically 600 - 800 cpsi.

We're quite flattered by the C8 enthusiasts who have supported our suite of products for the new Corvette. We look forward to future developments as part of this community. There's a lot of talk about the value of our products in this thread - and that's okay. I tried to do a bit more research to compare LTH products, but LTH off road pipe web images are all CAD drawings. I can't see the quality of their welds and flanges. I don't see any reference to heat insulation etc. The fact that they can add 2 catalysts to the system and retail it for only $300 more leaves very significant questions about the quality of the cats being used.

Wagyu ribeye or London Broil? Rolex or Timex? Local craft beer or Natural Light? Corvette, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, or McLaren? Every consumer makes different purchase decisions for different reasons - but it's clear there are distinct differences in the options.

Well I did it. Just in case there was an issue, I bought a second used set of cats. Removing the catalyst and fiberglass packing took about 5 mins per side, using a combination of drill and pry bar. Removing the catalyst saves about 4 total pounds, but I’m sure the greatest savings will be the heat.

The resulting sound is amazing!! Take a listen to the quick video. I have the NPP exhaust and started in touring, so it was somewhat muted. I revved it to about 2000 rpms then 4000 rpms, then opened the exhaust valve and repeated the revs.

To keep the PCM happy I installed a set of CEL eliminator which has worked great.

full admitting: I have been a douchy Porsche owner in the past. But I’ve seen the light.

however, being from that world I was tempted to chime in on that Hennessy vs Fabspeed thread on this forum where people started saying “buy anything but Hennessy.” I was lol-ing because Fabspeed has a bit of an “interesting” rep in the Porsche world, for sure. Peeps should do their research, google is your friend.

If you look closely at the phrasing of each comparison, the premium option was listed first - as was the Corvette.

The main thrust of the comparison in that post was between LTH cat bypass offerings and our cat bypass here at Fabspeed - having nothing to do with the vehicle manufacturers.

We support an incredibly broad range of platforms and owners - from rare $500,000 Lamborghini SVJs to $5,000 986 Boxsters and everything in between. Every single one of our customers is an enthusiast seeking more performance and sound, no matter what their budget or badge on their car.

We don't see a need for the stereotypical "Domestic v.s Import" battle and name calling. That argument is especially antiquated now that the Corvette is adopting more and more technology and mid-engine architecture present in foreign supercars and exotics.

(Add the rumors of a flat plane crank 5.5L and 9,000rpm redline to the mix in the pending Z06, and the lines between what has always been European versus what is now American are becoming increasingly blurred.)

Again - nobody blasted the Corvette. (I can assure you there are more small block Chevrolet's in our employee parking lot than anything else - and none of the other brands you referenced come to think of it!)

This is a thread on gutted cats, and cat bypass offerings from LTH and Fabspeed. That was the comparison - I hope everybody can see that!

Between Fabspeed and American Racing Headers , someone must have the flow bench cfm numbers on the stock cats vs sport cats vs cat delete pipes. Anyone?

They call them "test pipes" because it's illegal to intentionally disable emissions equipment on a street car. So these pipes are only for "testing," not for on-road use.

Interesting not many comments about HEAT MANAGEMENT. I track the car, brakes are limited on the Z51 package, so that upgrade, and the Borla system (great heat management/construction) so I do not worry
about engine compartment. Some of the other exhaust systems (first-out-seem like prototypes in comparison)
.
Personal preference, I want brakes, handling, I have the 150 extra horsepower in my Z06/07. The C8 is faster on short tracks. Watkins Glen and VIR with long tracks are horsepower tracks when you consider
straights constitute over 70% of the race track distance.

Ceramic coating, shielding, and/or blankets are a good idea. Kooks, Corsa, & Fabspeed all sell blankets (there are others as well). I would not personally run headers or cats fully exposed bare metal. I went the ceramic coating route using Cerakote Titanium.
