Default brake pad replacement

I am going to replace the brake pads on my 2021 Z51. Because of the electric boost brakes is it necessary to disconnect the battery when changing the pads? Also can anyone suggest decent low dust pads. I have no plans to track the car.
Thanks for any info you may have.

Thanks Adam. As always it’s updated with the latest info. Still waiting for input on my “suggestion” page7!

Note I did disconnect the battery to prevent eBoost from possibly delivering 3000 psi brake fluid to the pistons when the pads were not in place. Not likely but would be a real mess especially IF removing the calipers. Why risk. GM says do it and might as well see where the battery is anyway! Lost no memory!

Yep, feel the same about using Carbotech 1521 pads. You'll see info at the end of my document with quotes from others who had my experience with cheap pads. Reminded of the "Metalic Brakes" I had on my 1st new car. Stopped great when they were warm or hot but needed 2 feet (no power brakes) when they were cold!

So if cruising on an Interstate where the pads and rotors get to room temp and a car suddenly stops in front- need to have good cold pad stops!
