Default LT1 rear main seal alignment
Does the LT1 require an alignment tool for the rear cover/seal ?

You posted in a C8 forum, which is powered by the LT2 engine. To answer your question it's not required, just carefull placement will avoid having to do the job again

I assume the seal will center itself with the bottom of the cover flush to the oil pan.

rear cover is pinned to the block. There is an installation tool for the rear main seal though. Unless the new rear cover has it preinstalled.

yes, the pins and the bolts guide the alignment. No need for an alignment tool.

I think waiting on the zo6 parts and tech. will be helpful and hopefully parts can be interchanged or upgraded.

GM is doing well with Mag ride and the zo6 system is looking promising.
