Wow, I'm in So Cal and Lakewood isn't that far from me! Would you mind telling how much they want for the work? Can you PM me? and do they buy the manifold or did you take yours off the car and send it to them? thx

$300, same as the LT1 (C7) intake manifold pictured on their website (which was mine). Ruben does amazing work!
He's generally pretty flexible regarding providing a core, porting yours, or you providing one. I'm personally going to buy a brand new core and send it to him unless he already has a core exchange available.
The LT1 exhaust manifolds pictured were also mine.
Great! Sounds like you have some history with these folks,. That means a lot. And what else means a lot is that these guys are close! Relatively, they are in Riverside County ( initially thought they were in LA county), which is certainly drive-able for me. AND an excuse to drive my C8 ;-) I'll give Ruben a call, I already left a message, but no answer, consistent with the weekend. I'll probably do the same thing and buy a new one and drive it down/send it to him, but I'll ask if he has any core exchange policy. What did they quote you as turnaround time?
They're quick...I believe 3 days is what they quote. RockAuto has the cheapest cores I've found yet, just FYI! Let me know what they say, I know they're excited to get working with me again on some stuff.
The LT2 is a well designed engine. It takes a whole lot of $$$ to get appreciable performance increases.
One guy on YouTube with a ported throttle body, a ported intake manifold, AWE exhaust and an attack blue air filter was able to cut his 1/4 mi. time 2/10 or 3/10 of a second, breaking just under 11 seconds near sea level and with temps in the 60s.
Another guy on YouTube, Carl Messenger, is reporting 586 crank hp, He presented dyno graphs showing pickups of around 11 hp and 17 hp (different engine temperatures) after adding the ported intake manifold, but he has a lot of other mods he has not yet disclosed - at that point the unmodified intake manifold probably had become the bottle neck. What he has shown in his videos is what looks to be a ported and/or bigger throttle body, a Hooker Blackheart exhaust system, cats, and a video of him dropping the motor and pulling the heads. I speculate he had the heads ported, and perhaps he installed a bigger cam, but until he comments we really don't know. It looks like he also has headers. The left side header outlet and heat shield shown in one of his videos look like they are shaped a little different than stock, and the header looks to be ceramic coated.
Porting LT2 manifold results, bottom line the stock intake is very good.
The LT2 manifold is well designed and the gains are small compared to working the LT1. Porting a plastic manifold is relatively easy, pick up a die grinder bit and some sandpaper and you can do it on a workbench. Getting the throttle body done also will net 10-15 on the combo. Ryan even mentioned that the tb is the bigger restriction.
