Default Racing brake pads

I’m having trouble finding racing pads for the C8. I raced for years and used Performance Friction 90, 93 and 83s in the race cars depending on the track.. I’m an old fart that bought a new C8 . It looks like PF does not make C8 pads and changed their compound numbers.

I’ve seen Hawk DTC-70&60s, but they cost a fortune. The 30 would be more appropriate, but I cannot find any for a C8.

Any suggestions? Is the stock caliper made by AP or Brembo and is it a common off the shelf caliper for them?

Thanks for your help.

I’ve always used Carbotech’s for years. They have several compounds you can choose from. They usually always have in stock and if not they can make them in a day or two. Yes the C8 brakes are made by Brembo. Just make sure you tell them or anyone that you have a base or Z51.

I’m running XP10’s which is the max pad for max summer tire. But if you choose contact Adam at the link below and support forum venders. He’s a great guy. He can advise what compound for your driving and setup.

Thanks for the info. I called Adam and they do not make brake pads for the base C8 only Z51. Bummer

I believe Racingbrake offers pads for non-z51 cars.

I will happily look into this for you!

Thanks
Andrew

Just a heads up Carbotech will make them for you if you provide the existing pads or a set from some where else.

Sean it was nice speaking with you.

I’m sorry but no dust and track pads don’t go in the same sentence.

I spoke with the people at G Loc and ended up buying their R12 pads. I selected the R12 over the 16 and 18 because the lower effective temperature was around 170-180 degrees. Therefore, I could leave the brake pads on the car for whenever I drive on the street. Also, the top effective temperature was around 1850 degrees, which is pretty good.

CARBOTECH™ XP12™

Another highly successful XP™ series compound with an excellent initial bite, torque and fade resistance over and above the XP10™ compound. XP12™ has temperature range of 250°F to 1850°F+ (121°C to 1010°C+). The XP12™ has that excellent Carbotech™ release and modulation that has made all other Carbotech™ compounds so successful. The XP12™ is more rotor aggressive than XP10™, but compared to the competition the XP12™ is still very rotor friendly. XP12™ is NOT recommended for use as a daily driven street pad due to possible elevated levels of dust and noise.

G-LOC™ R12:

Raising the bar even higher is the R12 compound with an excellent initial bite, high and consistent torque, and outstanding fade resistance over and above the R10. R12 has a temperature range of 173°F to 1860°F (78°C to 1015°C). The G-LOC™ R12 continues our excellent release and modulation that has been engineered into all previous G-LOC™ compounds. The R12 is slightly more disc/rotor aggressive than R10 but more disc/rotor friendly compared to our competition. G-LOC™ does NOT recommended R12 for daily use on the street due to elevated levels of dust and noise.

Just a heads up my brakes overheated at the track this weekend rendering the car useless. No brakes and wont go over 43mph Its at the dealer and they are saying it needs all new brakes (which is false) and calipers and its not under warranty because I didn't have stock pads. I'm obviously fighting this for one because it doesn't need anything it seems to be electrical and just needs a reset. Has anyone experienced this yet??!! Help!

Go elsewhere. No OEM brake pads. That’s like saying no OEM air in your tires.

Default Why are they overheating

They run stock pads all day every day at Ron Fellows Performance Driving. Was there in July 130 degrees not one car had brake or overheating issues. What pads are you running
