Brand new 2022 HTC.687 miles. Saw some marketing online and ran out and bought one of these Attack Blue Air Filters. After reading some reviews and watching Paragon's shootout video I am trying to decide if it's worth the aggravation of standing on a stool to reach over the high wing just to remove a perfectly good air filter to install this thing to get at best maybe a 5hp gain. At the risk of getting flamed, anyone who isn't making $$ on the sale of these have any real-world thoughts? Thanks in advance.
I installed one in my car and have zero regrets with the money spent or time used to install. It's a better quality air filter, both flow & filtering, simple as that in my mind. Not to mention dyno-proven gains by multiple parties and shops. I enjoy the small mods that add efficiency to the overall system; same reason I did a ported intake manifold and throttle body as well. I'm sure you'll find plenty of nay-sayers as well, but your car your money so do what makes you happy.

Drop-ins are proven to show about +5-6whp vs. the stock paper filter. I tried the AttackBlue prior to installing a full aFe intake system. The AttackBlue fitment was ok, not perfect, but it worked fine. If I were to go back to just a drop-in I'd save a few bucks and do the K&N which has better fitment and still a proper design with air divider. In Paragon's dyno shootout it was actually the aFe synthetic dry filter that picked up the highest peak WHP gains so you can't go wrong with that one either.
One thing to keep in mind about the AttackBlue filters, they require cleaning every 10k miles and replacement at 50k miles. They don't advertise that fact, but I was informed of this directly from TKO Ed who makes & sells these filters. I find this to be a rather significant drawback considering the competitors only need cleaning every 25-50k miles and are good for life.
5 additional HP on a 495 HP engine? That’s just 1%. Seriously doubt my butt could feel a 1% gain.
Same gains as the optional NPP exhaust system. With how well-designed modern cars have become I'll take gains wherever I can find them, especially with minimal to no downside concerns.
To each their own obviously, but I personally get satisfaction from modifying my cars even if the gains are negligible. Even my Jeeps have aftermarket filters on them; actually made a nice audible improvement on the turbocharged one and saw a decent uptick in MPG on the one with a NA V6.
You won’t really feel a difference, though it seem to breath a bit better in the mid-range RPM. Possibly a bit louder exhaust, though that’s pretty subjective.
When paired with the ported throttle body and intake definitely makes it a bit louder and seems to rev a bit faster.
Even with these, the butt-meter probably won’t tell much difference.
It’s easy to do, so I wouldn’t hesitate to put one in.
The ported intake manifold, throttle body and an upgrade air filter installed on a c8 may put a little gap on a stock c8. And actually it was track proven on the same c8 instead of hp gains on the dyno. Having said that....just having the Attack blue filter alone is what it is.
Yes, I tried to put on a AFE power air filter, but it wouldn’t fit in the air box, Attack Blue air filter is what we installed. Works like a dream. Install video is on YouTube @ MakeErLoud

Which version? They redesigned it from the original style to improve the fit and increase the media surface/airflow. Both available in oiled cotton (blue) or dry synthetic (white). The new-style aFe filter is very similar to the Green drop-in filter. For the drop-in filters, K&N has the best style/design in my opinion and is what my personal choice would be.
From what I’m reading I don’t see a reason to purchase an aftermarket filter. Wouldn’t GM go to a better filter for cheap performance gains as well? 6 rwh is not inexpensive to find in the speed shop. I’d do it if my car truly gained 6 rwh, rpms climbed faster and exhaust sounded better. I’ve been buying these type of miracle air things since my 2000 C5 and have not had one where I noticed a difference. I’ll use my money on ceramic, red seat belts and new tires. I can actually see them. Just my opinion and could definitely be wrong.

OEMs play by a different set of rules and regulations (NVH, EPA, etc.) than the aftermarket does. Also, cost is a huge consideration with mass-produced vehicles. Just like everything else on the car, there are compromises in play.
Installed an Attack Blue Filter. Noticed zero difference, but it was cheap and I know it breathes a bit better so more of a feel good change than any actual change in performance. I'll take the 5hp or whatever it is.........same with my ported throttle body, no noticeable difference (Throttle Controller makes a HUGE difference)........again, I know the airflow is better going into the engine even though I can't feel it so that's about all it's giving me.
