I have the GM low rear spoiler on my car and after having it for a year I've decided to make a change. I want to install a taller spoiler but I'm wondering the best way to remove the adhesive tape based unit.
I was thinking dental floss and a heat gun to soften the tape. But I have concerns as to removing the adhesive from the paint should the tape be split by the floss.
Anyone out there have experience in removing a VHB taped option on a car? I'm open to suggestions before I head to a body shop and have them remove the part.
PB Blaster work really well on the factory adhesive. WD-40 is decent. GooGone is ok. Rubbing alcohol at the very end to strip the surface clean down to the clear coat since the mentioned liquids can leave an oily film
Use fishing line instead of dental floss; it's stronger. A hair dryer or heat gun is a must.

3M Adhesive remover is the best I have tried so far! Ive tried goo gone, WD40 and PB Blaster and none seem to work nearly as well.

Been considering removing the OEM low rear spoiler on my 2020 C8 Z51 for a cleaner line.... I'm asking - are there mounting holes in the body or is the low spoiler installed with only adhesive tape?
The low spoiler on my car was a dealer/self installed option not available from the factory. It uses tape and sealant, no holes. Now in MY 2022 there is a factory option for a low spoiler that is bolted to the car.
