Default Bolt-Ons Installed

So I went this route with my HTC.

- ARH Headers
- Gateway Intake Manifold
- Katech TB
- Halltech Intake

I'm happy with the NPP, so an exhaust change isn't happening. Gained a nice 16 rwhp /17 rwtq. I really think GM made this a solid car as is. Not much to gain. I'm happy with the results and sound.

Extremely happy with Katech for the installation and professionalism. Thank you.

How is the drivability? Do you feel there is a need for tuning? How was normal fuel economy affected?

There are a number of people here that do not understand how well the C8 takes to mods without tuning due always running in closed loop, except for start up and limp home. No problem with headers and intakes leaning the car to far out.

Consistent gain over the top end (4400 - 6600). How many pulls after the mods were installed did you make? I've seen people gain after a couple pulls as the computer learns the change is permanent.

Really decent gains throughout the powerband. I bet it pulls hard at the bottom end. Just curious, what size TB do you have? Thanks in advance

I don't think tuning will get much more out of this. GM did some good work. And when tuning is available $$$

I really only got on it hard on the expressway on my way home from Katech. I felt no difference up top. Throttle response is instant and my SOP feels amazing.

My buddy has a stock C8. We'll do a 40+ run to see how much it pulls.

Don’t expect much if any. Trust me it hurts me too. Lol. When I’m at the track I catch other stock C8’s heading into a long straight it’s a dead even drag race. I just have this long sigh of geez. But as with most track days it’s about the driver and how he manages brake and turn zones.

4% gain in torque, less than 4% in HP. Going to be hard to tell the difference, I think.

It's 15 RWHP. I know racers that would sell their first born for 1/2 that. I'm not kidding.

I mean sure… But man that’s such a super broad and general retort to his statement.

There will always be those guys out there on Holy grail quests to find that last handful of power increase, but their situation doesn’t necessarily equate to any guy who’s adding any bolt ons to any car at any cost for any number of reasons…

Many of us aren’t strip junkies desperately seeking that last tenth at whatever cost, for example. I’ve always moded all of my cars since my first at 16, but the HP/dollar ratio has always been a critical component for me and based on my observations so far w C8 bolt ons, I’m seeing way too much money leaving for total gains resulting in the teens. Modding begins, lives in, and ends in the land of diminishing returns with this platform thus far which is hard to stomach for many of us.

But hey, different strokes and all.

I totally agree with you. Some simple math and that's about $300 per hp. Pricey, but my choice.

indeed.

And tbh, at this point in the platform’s lifecycle you’re still doing us all a solid by testing what’s out there and returning info to us. So as long as you’re willing to pay for it, we are still at the point of where you’re helping the community as well as shooting for gains.
