Default Exhaust Sound Advice

I have a 2022 C8 with the Z51 package and chevies performance cat back. I put on American racing headers and kooks performance cats. My question is, if I do the Borla S type cat back, how much louder will the car get? I am trying to avoid waking the whole neighborhood, just half the neighborhood lol.

BlackVal22,

If you want it to be deep throated and aggressive when your foot is in it, yet mild manner at cruise and idle. Please check out our Pure Thunder system. We deliberately built the system to have a split personality without the need for exhaust valves. In other worlds, the system will sound amazing when you want it most and unobtrusive and tame while cruising with the significant other. Here's a video and please feel free to ask if you have any additional questions. Thanks.

Appreciate it, but I am trying to keep the valves.

Search for Borla Exhaust here and on the General Discussion thread. I posted decibel tests for the ATAK, S-type, and OEM NPP as first published by Ian@Borla. I have seen those numbers re-posted by others in a few places. I don't have the numbers handy but they give a pretty good idea of loudness. I have a Borla S-type on my C8 that I run in MyMode most of the time. When I am concerned with neighbors, etc, I set the exhaust to Tour - fairly quiet at idle and steady rpms but plenty loud under acceleration. However, most of the time I set it to Sport which is valves open (loud) under most conditions, including idle. Either setting is much louder at cold start than the OEM NPP exhaust. When I worry about noise (like early in the morning) I sometimes even switch to Weather mode (very quiet) but still start the car with the garage door closed for the first 30 seconds (cold start).

Valves are not needed. I have American Racing headers and there Catback system on my car. Actually my car is in the video on this post. When this car is in 4 cylinder mode the sound is so much softer than my OEM exhaust with the valves. And around town and cruising on roads no drown and the sound is incredible when i get on it. Believe i have used ARH products and never regretted it!!!!!!!.
