My local Chevy dealer has me scheduled to repair my inside rear view camera later this morning. I'm getting an intermittent Blue Screen when I'm using it. They're telling me the rear view bumper has to come off. Could that be possible?

If the camera itself is being replaced, I would depend how that camera is attached to the panel. Of course they could be replacing parts, when it is just a bad connection. Intermittent problems are the worst. Good luck!
EDIT: I was referring to the back-up camera. Are you talking about the one hooked to the rear-view video mirror? If so, the bumper has nothing to do with it, it is on the roof. Two cameras pointing backwards, can be confusing which one people are talking about.

When the camera is disconnected the screen goes blue. sounds like you have a melted wire, or something that is causing it to be intermittent. I am sure they need to chase the issue all the way to the camera itself.
Sounds like they're confused and think your talking about back up camera. Rearview mirror is on roof no need to remove bumper be careful the techs are idiots
Thank you for all of your comments. The more I thought about it I too was questioning the the idea of what does the rear bumper have to do with the inside rear-view mirror...? When I brought the car into the dealer, I asked them the same thing and also asked the service writer to double check with the technician BEFORE he pulls the rear bumper off. Sure enough, the service writher came back to me and after checking with the technician said the rear bumper doesn't have to come off. He too thought I said the rear back-up was giving me a blue screen!!! Issue solved and stayed right where it was!

That what it was. They thought it was the rear back up camera! Sweet Jesus!!! lol
Thanks for your reply.
So,,,what did they replace/repair to fix the issue?
Well, all the said was the camera on the roof was at fault. Since it was under the warranty, they don't fo into any of the other pieces like they do when you're paying for the job. I did ask him how much would that have cost me if I was out of warranty...? He said about $600 or so.

Assume you were getting what I just started to get. Not all the time but enough that I have to flip to a standard mirror as the ICON is telling me! Really makes me appreciate the TV Mirror!
Scheduled for the dealer visit next Friday

I hope your issue is solved. I haven’t been so lucky. My has been back at least 5 times. It was intermittent but now does not work at all. Techs have taken the shotgun approach to repair by replacing mirror, camera video control module etc. I hope this time they can get it right. I wish Corvettes had a dedicated service center where all they serviced is Corvettes and the technicians were more experienced.

Funny, before they replace anything on warranty they have to call GM Service Techs or it's not covered.
Recall Chuck, the Tech where Rick Conti is, saying that about removing a cylinder head he knew was the right next step BUT if he didn't wait for approval, it might not be covered. He had to wait a day or so before they agreed. As I recall it was an unusual issue but removing the head was the right next step to get it fixed!
Have to assume changing the camera (the easiest as I understand the issue) was approved and when it didn't work GM Techs approved the next replacement etc.
What was the fix? I too am now having this problem. If they re-flash the software, it goes away for a while and the mirror works correctly, until it doesn't and either it shows nothing or shows the blue screen of death. The dealership claims there is no bulletin on this issue, which surprises me, since I see lots of posts having the problem but have yet to find one that has the solution.

Yep, they replaced my mirror no help! Then replaced the small camera in the panel on the roof. That was 6 months ago. All is fine. From other posts and my experience, have them replace the camera first. It's easier and cheaper! Mine were both done on warranty.
PS: Initially it was intermittent. So could think other things were the cause.

There is a cable that runs from the camera to the monitor that needs to be replaced. It is more work than changing the other parts. Josh Holder Corvette chief engineer, told me this was the problem when I spoke to him at Corvettes at Carlisle. I relayed this information to my local corvette tech and they were able to finally fix it.

Yep, that is the third and hardest part to replace of the three elements that could be an issue! There are apparently voltage checks that can be made from the camera to the mirror.
The easiest to access (and easiest to replace, I watched both in my case) is the camera. A Trim tool pops up the roof cover. It's a very small camera. But Tech found out my 2020 had a different connector to what "parts" ordered. (We have a retiree group that meet for lunch weekly and an EE from our engineering lab bought one for his sedan that failed for ~$60! If mine was not on GM's dime would do that myself!)
Changing the whole mirror was more difficult because of its position, disconnecting the plug etc.
That cable is probably the cheapest part but can see it would be a PIA and time consuming to replace. It must go across the roof, down the "B" pillar, then across the sill, up the "A" pillar and over! Lots of trim to remove.
