Default Engine Lighting & Apaprance

I recently took delivery of a new C8 3LT Z51 in Red Mist. I was not the original person that ordered, as that person backed out, so it was offered to me as it was VERY close to my configuration. I got very lucky.

The car does NOT have the engine lighting/engine appearance package. I would like to add engine lighting and I'm sure there are numerous way to do this, probably including having the dealership add the OE kit.

Questions-
What are the good aftermarket options?
How does one turn on the factory kit VS aftermarket kits?

I'll be adding one of the aftermarket engine appearance packages, like American Hydrocarbon or similar.

The GM package is worthless. It comes on when opening trunk and at startup then turns off after a few minutes.
Buy any after market lighting if your looking to keep them on longer and for shows

I called the dealer, as as it turns out, the engine lighting package was deleted for the 2023 model, so even if I bought the harness and lights, there may not have been a place to plug the kit into, as the part is not offered by GM for the 2023 model as a dealer installation. And that means that the connector probably doesn't exist in the harness any longer. So that little harness you could buy aftermarket for using the rear defrost button wouldn't work on a 2023.

So it would appear aftermarket is the only choice now anyway. So I'm either going battery powered or wiring directly to the car's battery for an engine lighting kit.

Don't assume that the harness was changed after this accessory was deleted. On my C6, they deleted the underhood light. I bought the OEM light kit and the receptacle was still part of the harness. You could have the dealer parts counter check to see if the harness for '23 has a different number than prior years. It would not surprise me if it is still the same. Also, find the number of the discontinued GM accessory and the dealer will be able to check nationwide inventory to see if any dealers have it in stock. I have bought numerous discontinued items using this method. Good luck

My lighting install is stickied at the top of the general C8 page under DIY and installs. Hope it helps. If you are mechanically inclined even in a small way it is an easy install to do. I bet I could do another one in a bit over an hour now. Took me several to write and take pics. Good luck.

I have a '23 and installed the factory ZZ3 kit. I ordered it from Wildhammer. It was a fairly simple install and the light fixture mounting locations are there. Powerlabs tuning sells a simple plug-in kit you can add while installing that allows you to turn the lights on manually.
