I dropped the C8 off at the local Hendrick's yesterday to get the track alignment. This morning the service writer called and said the "track alignment" requires a special tool, they don't have it and can't get it due to being in the middle of a tool supplier change. I'm thinking the caster tool should be the only unique thing needed. I told her I have a caster tool for the C7... Oh no, that will not work and there are other special tools needed for the "track alignment". I say you're kidding me right, you are Hendrick and you can't do an alignment on a C8, you've been selling them for three years. She politely said, not a track alignment.
Sixty seconds on googles say the GM caster tool is the same as used on the C7 and Solstice, just the pins are different. The C8 adapter pins seem readily available for about $13. So this is the second iteration of this model that a Hendrick service department failed to do a complete alignment job?
I feel internally driven to go all Karen with Hendrick out of frustration with this. But before I do, am I missing something? The caster tool is the only unique tool required for an alignment, right? Not just a track alignment but any complete alignment job?
EDIT - I pulled the AC Delco manual and the caster tool is the only special tool and its the same as the C7's but with the different pins. Guessing the tech just didn't want to do the work.

In my experience, trying to convince people you are about to pay that you know more than them never goes well. If they don't want to do it, you don't want them doing it.
