Since the axle question isn't answered (yes I knew of the aftermarket axles available and had a set on 2003 Cobra back in the day), will it be a reasonably easy task to swap the Z06 steel rotors and calipers onto the Stingray?
I would start looking at the rotors and calipers from the 1le Camaro. Those are going to be probably the same. Gm uses a specific brembo hat across all their lines. Same calipers on all the Cadillac V series as vette and Camaro. You would just need to get rotors. Might be able to save some coin not paying the vette tax.
Looks like the gmpp 14.6 fronts is what is on the z06 non z07, going to take measurements tonight. Rear z06 non z07 is going to be new it’s a 14.9 and not used on anything that i can find.
The 14.6 is GM go to steel front brembo ATSv Cameron 1LE, previous c7 z all use the same 14.6. Same rotor, sometime a different hat, for the most part. If the mount spacing is the same, gmpp sells the 14.6 kit for 2800.00 ish. Not a bad upgrade I’ll check the spacing tonight
Is there any concern that the piston surface area would be too large? I was reading bunch of information regarding a brake kits for the Corvette and they all mentioned that the service area was matched up so it wouldn’t cause any issues
That’s GMs go to set up. So i doubt it. I have the AP kit on my car which is 6 piston front and rear and it works flawlessly.
so a 6 piston front and 4 piston rear would be great

The 6 piston Calipers fit. I have not tried the rotor yet, but I dont see why it won't. This kit is of the gen6 Camaro/ATS V. waiting on a rotor to actuall test fit everything.

Did you buy them? Or do you just know based on measurements that they fit and you’ve ordered a rotor to test fit those.
In my experience with previous Z06's, there will be GM part numbers for each caliper by color. I had a 2012 crystal red Z06 where the red calipers just clashed with the dark red of the crystal red metallic and so I found a set of NOS GM yellow calipers (didn't hurt that the Grand Sport increased the size of the pool in which to choose from by having the exact same brakes as the steel rotored C6 Z06's,) and swapped out all fours with brand new rotors in the color I preferred. Plus, they were actual OEM Corvette parts to boot.
This will undoubtedly be the way to go on a nice C8 Stingray upgrade; the Brembo's will likely go for al little more than the C6's PBR calipers, but this will be my preference.
so this system would be comparable to the c7z steel rotorn brakes. that was a very robust system. I tracked my c7 GS a lot with that system, I changed the lines, pads, fluid, and never had any issues. personally I have the AP system because I didnt think about checking this 2 years ago. If I had to do It all over, I would go with the brembo 6 piston 14.6 front brakes, stock rear 4 piston rear brakes, and that would be that. I track my car 10-15% of my driving time so AP is definitely overkill for me, but they are already on the car, so there they stay. for someone wanting probably a 35% upgrade over the stock from 4 piston (which work great, I never had a issue with them) or someone wanting the 6 piston look. Definitely would go this route.
I swapped the pads out on my C8 Z51 this last weekend; I have always loved Brembo brakes but even if you have the socket to remove the caliper cross bolt, that caliper spring is not easy to remove while still on the rotor. I see that the C8Z front calipers are of the same design. Part of the appeal to the Brembo calipers (and those trying to be like it) is being able to swap pads at the track with minimal effort. The rears are easy peazy but the spring on the fronts, I think all you can do is bend back the tabs a bit to get them on, and then bend them back again with a pliers.
C8Z Brembo brakes.

I hear ya...I have the tool but have yet been able to remove the fricking spring with the pads in. I find it easiest just to pull the whole caliper off. I've got it down to about 1hr20mins to change all 4 corners, including cleaning up the calipers....

Went to their website and it stated that this Camaro brake kit was not compatible with the C8 Z51. Have you determined otherwise? Would indeed be a great upgrade for the C8 if it actually fit!!
