Default Why did GM move the PCM?

Looking around I found a pic of what seems to be 2023 with its rear bumper removed (as shown below, first pic) that the PCM on this car is in the driver side rear bumper area. While earlier models are in the tunnel area underneath the car. Curious of what conspired to make this change.

2023 or possible late 2022

Earlier Model

Most likely due to the upcoming E-Ray. Was a change for 23. Probably to have some commonality on the assembly line between the 3 models.

Good point. For most likely the E-Ray will have a drive line of some nature running threw and had to clean up that area.

The tunnel will have a battery. Not a driveline. Regardless, that makes me wonder why they didn't put it in the back to begin with.

Yep, the E Ray has two back to back ~50 hp electric motors powering the front wheels NOT a driveshaft from the LT2!

Pic from a November 2019 leaked article with E Ray details. I put the details that were in the article on the top of the pic. Some details expanded and reinforced by one of the best automotive writers in SAE International article in 2022 Don Sherman. He mentioned the two back to back motors in the center that is very logical since they can be controlled separately. When exiting an apex need to control power to each side separately.
