Default Do you remove wheel centers for Track use?

Plan to take new C8 to first track day end of Jan. Does everyone remove the wheel centers for track use on C8? I always
remove the wheel centers on our C4. Was not sure if that is necessary for C8 or not.

Thanks for any feedback.

I think it's prudent to remove them since its quick and easy. Otherwise you may find yourself buying a new set every other track day...

I always take center caps off when I track a car. Cheap insurance. Plus, think how fast your car will be with those 6 oz. removed.

The notion of removing the center caps before tracking has never occurred to me. Multiple track days in multiple cars (C8 included) and I've never had an issue with center caps.

I started removing them from the C4 wheels after the first track day. The heat from the wheel caused the plastic caps to lose tension and would not hold tight any longer. So after that I always removed them.
Wasn't sure if the C8 wheels got that hot. Looking for a strong suction cup to see if I can pull them off at the track.

Yes, I have seen many of them fly off at the track.

I have decided i would remove them. Still looking for a easy way to remove them with out scratching the rim. Looks like suction cup will not work because the emblem on the centers are raised. Any one got an easy way without removing the rim?

Some people are able to do it with a small thin flathead screwdriver. As mentioned, you'll need to be careful.

Recall using dentil floss when I removed the Jake center caps from my 2017 Grand Sport before I sold it to put on my C8.
