For those that have done it, with the engine in the car. Any advice? I heard about the bolt through the sump tank that needs to be cut, I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it. Any thing else? How did you drain the coolant?

Not too awful tuff. Just takes time. It’s not a 69 camaro. If you want to separate your car from all the others that’s what it takes. Heads are cheaper than a supercharger kit for sure. People run pretty quick with them too.

These will be my next adventure for sure. I've seen one result of heads on a dyno. I'd like to see another regardless of the different variables there could be dyno wise. Just put my car back together after a month with a few things to address still. Plus just actually enjoying the car. This year sometime.
It is a pretty easy job to do. The bolt going thru the dry sump tank needs to be cut, I used a sawzall and a cutting wheel...took about 10 mins to do. Get the correct hex head socket for the driver's side head bolt, what a fantastic idea GM . I just dumped the coolant as I removed the heads. When I reinstalled them I just filled it up and it burped itself in my case.
I am a big fan of Texas Speed and would love to push their PRC LTX head, but they have a big port and a big heavy intake valve that would be more suited for a stroker. CID would probably be the same although I have never had a set of those. Go with the stock LT (1 or 2) and have them worked over. My opinion only.
did you ever consider going with a 1.9 rocker arm rather than the 1.8 factory ratio? ,030 increase in lift PTV should not be a issue with no change in duration.

I'm pretty sure the stock rocker is a 1.59 not a 1.8.

Compression is king in the LT motor. I would go that route first, unless you are octane limited in your area.
