Is the only choice Mobil 1 supercar/ESP?
just wondering if there are any more cost effective options that meet factory specs. Did my first change at the dealer for free. Trying to hunt for deals so I'm ready for the next change. Mobil super car never goes on sale and it's $11 a quart.
I did do a quick search, couldn't find this posted before. Apologies if it has been asked.
It appears you have 2022 which requires 0w40 and dexos 2.
That's m1 0w40 ESP which is now M1 supercar 0w40 or
M1 0w40 ESP X3 which you can find at AutoZone online for 5.50 per quart after the rebate deal where you buy 5 quarts and a filter (you can return the filter). It's also a better oil imo.
Liqui Moly,Mobil1, Amsoil is adding a R to the oil bottle. Rockauto.com great prices
Can you show me what prices you're referencing?
I did check and the cheapest oil they have is 8.55 a quart for 0w40. Factor in shipping, this is hardly a good price. I buy plenty of stuff from them but oil I've never seen good deals.

No amsoil product is on any of the dexos lists at all so I wouldn't use them under warranty. They self proclaim their oil would meet the certification requirements of dexos but never even submit for certification.

I have no doubt Amsoil is up to the task, but it's generally very pricey.

Yes it may be a fantastic oil it's just not approved for our application for warranty requirements but I'm sure would work well... although I agree not necessarily any better than the ESP x3

I use Amsoil in my older cars. And yes, they will test their oil against manufacturer requirements and and then recommend a product that has met the spec according to their tests - without actually submitting the oil for the required certification. You can contact Amsoil and ask them for a recommendation. I did that back in Oct of 2022 and asked about dexos R. At that time they said they did not have a product that meets that spec. I'm not saying I would have used it even if they had a recommended product. I was really just interested what I could find out about the dexos R spec.
You bought a $80K-100K car and your looking for cheaper oil
Cheaper doesn't always mean worse. Expensive doesn't mean better. And the amount spent on the car is irrelevant. I'm sorry if my frugality offends you...

The bigger issue is not using what GM specifies in the manual. So when you have any engine issue they WILL point to the fact you used the wrong oil. Good Luck

If you read my original post again, I asked about oils that meet factory specs.
Regardless the only one that meets dexos R is Mobil 1 supercar currently. I'm sure other oils will eventually meet that standard but it looks like that's the only option for now. AutoZone deal is pretty solid as well, thanks guys

It is strange they said they do not have the oil and In the Amsoil G-2880 Signature Series PDF data bulletin it says it does. Page 4 0w-40 (AZF) GM DexosR,
The bulletin was dated 11/22 https://amsoilcontent.com/ams/lit/da...tins/g2880.pdf

Yes. The email was 10/04/2022. This bulletin is 11/22. And the link from Redmistrulz was 3/9/22. I would have expected them to eventually determine that it met the spec - and they apparently have. So, its possible that at the time I asked, they had not yet made that determination. As I mentioned, unless fixed in the last few hours, if you use the look up tool it still does not recommend oil for 2023 Corvette. I'm sure that will all get fixed.
Do you see dexos2 in that bulletin? I don't see it. But, while the dexosR spec supercedes the dexos2 spec for high performance gasoline engines (according to mobil), the dexos2 spec is not going away according to Mobil (see attached questions and answers). Perhaps the bulletin is only discussing Amsoil products for gasoline engines.

I believe the corvette tax is coming to SuperCar oil 0w-40 and 5w-50. It would not make any sense to have two identical oils, Mobil 1 ESP 0w-40 and Mobil 1 SuperCar 0w-40. About Cat's being damaged and being destroyed. Only 3 choices: Oil has to be burning in your exhaust to reach Cat's, Coolant has to be leaking into the exhaust and gets inside the Cat's or a lot of fuel being leaked into exhaust and a fire starts inside the Cat's.
I recall 1/4 mile track guys in Connecticut in the 90's swearing that Royal Purple oil is the best, which I've used in my from 1997 till 2017 Vipers & Vettes, my 2017 ZL1 Camaro, & my 2019 Ford Raptor which seemed to work quite well with my continuous aggressive driving habits on the roads daily which Arizona's crooked Cops don't care for;-)
Not sure how Royal Purple oil holds up in a legit test against Mobil's best oil nowadays.
