Default Rear view camera

Guys made a bad mistake. Had the rear bumper cover off replacing my exhaust this weekend when I went to reinstall the bumper cover I had all wiring hooked back and the cover slipped the rear view camera wire came out of the connector. This was the end that leads back to car not to camera itself. Anyway to fix it without replacing the complete harness?
thanks

I cant answer the question for your specific connector. But I have repaired a connector. It involves removing the pin for that particular wire. And then attaching the wire to a new pin and pushing the pin back into the connector. The version of the Service Manual I have contains numerous references to a section called "Connector Repairs". I could not find that actual section, just the calls to that section. But it would seem to suggest that a connector repair is possible, and something the techs at the dealership can do. You need the correct replacement pin. And its best to use a special tool for removal of the pin (I have used a tiny screwdriver but not recommended), and then a way to crimp the wire onto the new pin. I think this may be one where its best to go to the dealer.

You could always do something really bad, and bypass the connector for that particular wire by splicing it to the correct wire on the other side of the connector.

No big deal... i did something similar. Order the harness and only use the harness for the wire to the camera.

The harness was only like 40-60 bucks. Let me find the part number for you...

There you go. I cut the wire i needed out of the harness.

As for fixing the wire and getting it back in the connector, i tried, failed. Just buy the harness. You can still drive with the wire disconnected, the camera will just be black.

is this the bumper side harness or the harness on the car? Unfortunately this happened to my car and both connectors came off… so I need both harnesses! :-(

Default Connector Pin extraction tools

I was a QC Engineer in electronics manufacturing and agree: changing pin is the correct way to fix the connector issue.
The hardest part of the fix if removing the old pin without special tool. Answer: search Amazon: electrical connector tools pin extractor for a great selection of pin removal tools. The pins can also be gotten via Chevy or a specialty electronic web site. The last step
is having the correct tool to crimp the new pin to the wire. Sometimes a simple hardware store wire-stripper-crimper can work, but
you're not sure of the crimp carefully soldering can be another way to go. Good Luck....it should be pretty easy.

I found it interesting that you used the 84741961 cable at $84, while I did my install using cable: 85536901
at $98. You must speak better "GM" than I.

Do you have the part # for the wire on the bumper side? That’s the one that came out for me
