High flow cats installed now have service keyless start system msg
I had a shop install high flow cats. (They sound amazing). As soon as I got to my car the keyless door entry didn’t work. There is a msg that pops up on the screen that says service keyless start system every time I start it.
Does anyone know what they may have broken or left disconnected while doing the install? I have to bring it back to them on Wednesday to look at and hopefully fix.
If it says service keyless entry system it's not the fob. As I posted earlier there are several of these proximity sensors in the rear and specifically one in front of the airbox by the throttle body that probably got unplugged and not plugged back in.
If you have a 2020 a starting point would be new FOB batteries due to age. After that, ask the shop what they disconnected and have them double-check the connections.

There are proximity sensors on each side under the quarter panels, near the airbox and also on the rear tub behind the bumper. My guess would be one of them got unplugged or damaged.

FOB batteries will typically die around the same time since they're constantly draining whether you use them or not due to always transmitting.
I don't believe in coincidences and I refuse to believe that two fob batteries (one used all the time, the other not) would fail at the same time just after some work had been done on the car. I guess it's possible but things like that don't happen in my world.

As I stated, the shop needs to double-check their work as it's likely a sensor that was left unplugged as another member here has also mentioned. What I said was a 2020 is nearing about the time FOB batteries will start dying (~3 years). For most people, used vs. unused doesn't matter as the FOB has constant drain as it's always transmitting. If someone uses the FOB buttons a lot that would be different, but most don't. The FOB itself could careless if it's sitting unused locked in a safe at home or jingling around in your wife's purse everyday...the battery drain remains the same.
Since a message "service keyless entry" has been displayed, there is obviously a DTC set related to that system. A quick reivew with a scan tool is very likely going to point to an issue with one of the antennas in the back (the sensors mentioned above). I recommend a scan tool or a trip to a dealer or friend that has one.
As for it being the FOB or dead battery in the FOB - I have seen "no key detected" and also something to the effect that the "key fob battery is low" messages and that is what would be expected with a low or dead battery in the FOB. Neither of those is what we have here.
As for the key transmitting all the time - I'm not so sure. It has a motion sensor and will go into a sleep mode after a while. Not sure if that reduces its battery consumption or not.. But it will need to be moved before the car can be started.

This is the right answer.... its on the back of the airbox, the airbox was removed to install your Cats, they forgot to plug this back in.

is it accessible without removing the air box again?
I see a black wire on the driver side right by the o2 sensor not plugged into anything just hanging there but I can’t see where the sensor is it needs to plug into.

Yes it can be plugged back in without removing anything.
Thanks for your help guys. I was able to find the sensor and clip it back in myself with your help and problem is solved.
I had taken it back to the exhaust shop yesterday and my car just sat there and they never got to it while I waited for hours. Needless to say I’m not happy with that place…

Just installed some fabspeed cats on my C8 and had the “service keyless entry system” warning. Totally dumbfounded, I figured I’d search online a bit. Came across this thread. You all came in clutch!!! I was dreading having to call the dealer (because I thought it was in no way my fault ). Thank you!
Related to the topic, I’m super happy with the fabspeed cats. I love my NPP exhaust and wanted to keep that functionality so went with the cats. I love the sound. A little louder and a couple more pops occasionally.
Again, got to love the forum and its expertise. Thank you.

You did the install yourself or had this done at a shop?
