I am in the process of taking delivery of a 23 HTC . Upon going to the dealer I was informed that the check suspension light had come on while taking the car to gas up for delivery . Car has 7 miles on it . I of course didn’t complete or accept delivery but did pay for the car . The dealer asked for me to wait a few days until their preferred Tech was in to check it out . This kinda strikes me odd that someone couldn’t even diagnose a code or something to see if was something simple but be that as it may the Tech will be in tomorrow the 8th of May. I had sold my 21 due to some issues with the car that caused me concern for long term ownership so am a little concerned that a car with 7 miles on it has this warning light on. The salesman suggested one tech drove car said everything seemed fine and could be something simple like a fuse . I had told the dealer I may now want to unwind this deal since car hasn’t been titled yet and based on prior experience this is concerning . The dealer agreed if I did not like what the tech had to say as the cause we could cancel the transaction on the 8th which is certainly fair to me although would rather have the car.
my ultimate question to the group is if anyone has had this issue , what the fix was or if it’s been reoccurring problem on the C8 . Any car can have some issues but this is concerning at delivery . Just don’t want to get into some problematic issue with the mag ride suspension while I can get out of deal now . Thank you in advance Bob
Let them diagnose and repair it under warranty. Might just need a replacement shock.
Thank you for the response so even though new and only 7 miles could be bad shock maybe due to the supply chain issues. Thanks again for the feedback. Bob
.......This kinda strikes me odd that someone couldn’t even diagnose a code or something to see if was something simple .......
DTCs dont typically have a descriptor that says "replace a bad shock". More likely they say some sensor has detected and issue with a circuit, such as "short to ground" or "short to 12v" or "voltage out of range', things like that. The DTC will be an entry point to a diagnostic procedure that involves some further checks and possibly tests, that culminates in something like "fixed" or a designated repair or replacement. There are no DTCs that specifically say a fuse is open. In fact, the Service Manual has this to say about fuses:
"Fuses should not be open. General Motors does not call out in diagnostic procedures to verify a fuse. The technician is expected to find an open fuse when the diagnostic test step states to check for an open circuit condition."

Thanks Andy , good info guess have to see what they say and if I am comfortable with whatever it is might just be a one off. Hate to pass on car but dont want to look back a year later with problems and regret buying it. Might be the supply chain issues there dealing with and some parts are squeaking through . Appreciate the response . Bob
