Hi all,
Just after 2 track days the brake caliper piston boots are cracked. Is this normal? How crucial is this to be not cracked? Is there an aftermarket fix since replacing it with the OEM rubber boots would just crack again.
It's just dust boots, not the seals, so you're fine. Some aftermarket calipers don't even come with these boots, since they don't last at the track. I don't think you need to worry about it.
Thanks X25. I am reading your thread "23 C8 Z51 Track Build". Are you changing oil and transmission fluid (and brake fluid) after every track weekend?
No, you don't need to do that at all. I've gone to track with various cars (including many Corvettes), done oil analysis, etc., and know that oil actually lasts quite long. I have a car journal spreadhseet where I enter my # of laps, and it automatically calculates the # of hours I have been at the track. Once it hits ot gets close to 24 hours of track time, I will change the transmission fluid and its filter. I usually check on the oil life monitor, and when it gets down to 30% or less, I change the engine oil. I don't think there's any point in doing it any more often.
