2022 Vette Stuck in PARK?
Has anyone experienced their 2022 stuck in PARK and will not disengage after trying to put the vehicle in Drive or Reverse? If so, can you please tell me how to rectify this problem? I believe this is a result of the recent computer update I did a couple of days ago. A display came on the screen notifying me that the computer needed to update. After ignoring it for a number of times, I decided to go ahead with the update (which only took about 10-15 minutes), even though it said it could take one hour. I drove the vehicle and parked it in my garage no problem. Now today when I went to drive it, the parking gear showed "on" and would not disengage.
Anybody have this same experience? I thought that I might try you guys to see if I need to re-upgrade the computer and how do I do that?
Thank you in advance for your help here. Much appreciated.
Best,
Karl
Did you wash the car and then let it sit without drying the brakes by moving the Vette back and forth and stepping on the brakes repeatedly. I know it sound dumb, but it has happened to me when I washed the car and then let it sit for a couple days.
Call off the dogs!!! I found the solution and will post the solution here in case you encounter this problem. Like any good engineer will tell you...."if everything else fails, read the directions."
It was all in the Electric Parking Brake (EPB) which was displayed on the upper right of the Instrument Cluster. To quote the Owners Manual - "The vehicle may automatically apply the EPB in some situations when the vehicle is not moving. This is normal, and is done to periodically check the correct operation of the EPB system, or at the request of other safety functions that utilize the EPB".
EPB Release
1. Turn the ignition on or to ACC/Accessory. (Pressing the Keyless Ignition button.)
2. Apply and hold the brake pedal.
3. Press the EPB switch (located to the left of the steering column below the center line on the dashboard).
The EPB is released when the red parking brake status light (on the instrument cluster) is off.
Thanks again for your comments and hopefully we all learned something from this.
