Default AWE touring exhaust

I just installed an AWE Touring Exhaust on my C-8 convertible. WoW! simply WoW! It's perfect for my needs and everything I expected after a whole lot of research. The beast has been unleashed! I hear very deep muscle like tones at idle with nice pops between shifts. Downshifts are perfect sounding with a tasteful gurgling sound. When the pedal is put down, it literally roars...but is quiet at highway speeds. I also attained a track edition conversion kit here on the forum...can only imagine what it will sound like when I swap it out someday. I had my dealer install it rather than taking a chance at chipping the paint or other possible issues. They charged me $900.00 bucks...a bit more than I think is reasonable, but the liability was all theirs...Perfect fitment and no CEL codes just as advertised! If anyone out there is wanting a more sporting muscle car sound, AWE is where it's at!

Congrats! I have this system on mine with headers and it sounds incredible! I did the install myself which takes a few hours to get everything lined up. Enjoy!

I have been interested in the AWE touring system for a long time. How does the car sound when it goes into V4 mode? I imagine it is noticeable now versus almost undetectable with the OE system on the car.

BJ67, I had the same concern but you wont notice it with the Touring system only with the Track system.

All the aftermarket systems kind of sound bad when it goes into V4 unfortunately. I guess for $5000, they aren't going to engineer an extra set of valves to have it all works seamlessly.

I can definitely hear it change into a deeper but calmer tone. However, I can't hear much change at all with the top down on the highway. In the city, I drive in track mode sometimes which eliminates the v4 stuff. This is not 5k... only 3k...as it has no valves at all. You can also elect to put the car in manual shift and use the paddles which eliminates the v4 thing....this is how I drive most of the time. Hope this all helps!

I beg to differ regarding the Borla & Corsa systems that retain all 4 valves.

Thats all well and good on the NPP cars, my car no NPP, so the the extra valves are a waste and there systems are pricey compared the the AWE.

Retaining the 2 AFM valves that all C8s have is not a waste as they greatly reduce the strange V4 exhaust resonance.

But from what I understand, the Borla system only comes with 4 valves, 2 for NPP and 2 for AFM. Borla I believe does not build a system for non NPP cars, but AWE does.

Borla has actually now released a 2-valve model:

Awe has no valves for any system that they make...just plug in valve simulators...with drone cancelling 180 degree flow thru technology on their mufflered systems. In my humble opinion, the AWE has a much more muscle car lower pitched sound at idle and a more aggressive growl when the pedal is stomped down than the Borla. Borla is however deemed an official GM option that can be ordered with the car which will not void your warranty if installed by your dealer. These systems are very nice! Please do not quote me on this...as I am not sure "which" systems or if "all" systems are orderable thru GM. Again...hope this helps!

Thank you Kracka, did not know that. One big draw back though is borla doesnt make a touring 2 valve which I would want and even the 2 valve atak is pricey at $4000

Interesting...I wonder what the point of the muffler is in this case. I figure it's just cheaper to manufacture this way since the tooling is already set up

I just got AWE and can't stand the sound in V4 mode. It sounds awful. I basically just wasted $3k. Can you still hear the V4 in Borla S?
