Installed catback this past weekend. Hit remote start right after to hear the exhaust.
This catback (hooker blackheart) was not supposed to throw codes but of course it did.
ordered sims for AFM and NPP.
but also at same time it threw remote start code which now doesn’t function, which I believe if the car has emissions codes it does disable remote start functionality.
after I install the sims, will I be able to clear the codes myself (have OBD Link MX2) and will I also be able to clear P31E8 which I believe is the remote start. And should that then work? Thanks
Im going to install my simulators from Paragon, try to clear codes myself and will report back. Hopefully do it this week. In the meantime - DAMN - our C8 cabins are so well sealed.......aftermarket exhaust is an absolute must. Driving the car past couple days is soooooooooo much more enjoyable.
Installed CAT Black Atak exhaust as well and threw codes immediately and remote start is disabled. Called Borla, only way to clear issue is to have the re-learn process performed by a Chevy dealership, (mentioned buying a scanner and conducting the re-learn process myself, Borla stated it had to be performed by the dealer). So far, no dealer is willing to conduct the re-learn procedure. Not driving my Vette with a CEL!

Look for a certified Corvette service department. You should be able to find one that will do the relearn. Lots of after-market valved exhausts out there (I have a Borla S-type) and SOMEONE is doing the relearn procedure on each one of them. Also, no harm to drive with this particular CEL.

yeah, I need to schedule my three year ($1000) transmission service - figured they might throw in a relearn.
Other forum - guys are using this scanner - I bought the OBD Link MX 2 for $139. Gonna return and just get this one anyhow for $40 more.

2 months ago I returned from the Borla factory with the CEL. (Borla ATAK) Right after the installation, the manager and I went to a local Chevy dealer and had the learning process done. Within 2 miles the CEL returned. I was prepared for this and had purchased the previously noted "gizmo" on this site. Everything worked well and no CEL's since.
Ordered the X431 OBD scanner - arrives next week.
in the interim, installed the four Paragon simulators.
after a bit, the cel is gone AND the remote start now works.
Thanks Paragon!

P31E8 remote start?
Code P31E8 does not appear in the 2020 version of the Service Manual that I have. I searched for "remote start" and no codes with that in the description appear. I searched on "remote" and there are a lot of codes described as being related to "remote functions",but none of those are close to P31E8. I also searched for "start". There are lots of codes related to the 12 volt starting system - but nothing about remote start. I was hoping to find something that might explain why that would come up related to your modification, but I can't.

after additional research I think that code is also related to exhaust valves. I guess when there is an emissions “malfunction” remote start is disabled but doesn’t necessarily throw a code.
but everything is working great now

Thanks for the feedback, found a performance shop that specializes in Corvettes and was familiar with the relearn process. Trying a dealer in Daytona before I take it to them. I agree, someone is performing the relearn procedure, just have to locate the dealer.

Just buy the Launch X431 obd tool
does relearn
and/or install paragon valve sims.

If you go with the performance shop, make sure they can actually do the GM service official relearn procedure, not just exercise the valves open and closed. They have to be able to teach the computer about the valve motion.
