I saw that the Z51 package comes with a bag of Tupperware in the boot. SA said track use only. Really? Does it reduce the clearance that much? And how hard is it to put on and take off? I have a lift.
The Tupperware is ductwork for the rear brakes. GM suggests not installing it except for track use to reduce the amount of debris aimed right at the rotors. It's not a clearance issue.

You can put in the upper half permanently and never worry about ground clearance as it does not change that way.
The OP didn't say how many pieces were in the bag. There are 8 pieces total (2 front ducts, 2 rear hub pieces, and 4 halves that mount to the rear lower A arms) and some fasteners. Everything but the 4 halves that mount to the lower A arms are supposed to be installed during PDI but some dealers can't follow instructions and install everything or nothing.
If the rear A arm ducts are left on during street use they can direct debris into the brakes. There has been at least one report of a brake fire attributed to this. Many track rats only remove the lower half of the A arm ducts during street use. The lower halves are easy to remove and reinstall once you raise the car enough to get at them.
Thanks everybody. Hope to pick it up next week in Nashua. I will ping MacMulkin and ask if they have that done. Once broken it it will see track time.
So this ductwork can cause a fire from street use? This is just GM trying to keep up with Porsche. Not that many years ago that Porsche pioneered the self igniting engine in the 2014 GT3s, shortly followed by the self destructing engines a few years later.
Its all good, thanks.

There are some youtube vids out there on how to do it. Dealer, if they read/follow the PDI Checklist, will know what to install (fronts) and not to install (rears).
Fronts are 4 X 10mm bolts and one pushpin (per side), On a lift, would be easy.
